So the transition to match the web interface is understandable. Though this seems to deviate from the previous design philosophy of allowing each platforms app to be different and use the features of that platform best. The current state of the Windows app / whole platform as updated is not acceptable though:

• No ability to style notebook fonts (I prefer bolding and sometimes coloring tags)
• The ability to color tags and showing those tag colors on notecards was very effective for visual organization
• Much more wasted space in the sidebar (this sort of pairs with inability to change font because the larger default font forces a lot of whitespace just to read notebook titles).
• Not able to hide features that aren't relevant like Shared with Me, Shortcuts, Work Chat, Send Feedback, Need a little help?
• Cluttering my sidebar with ridiculous space wasting account logo, new note, back button, forward button and search bar.
• The web clipper often cannot clip a lot of content and is incredibly slow compared to say the Notion clipper.
• Inability to change the font in a substantial way makes the notes really annoying to read.
• Make it incredibly difficult to find and follow weblinks for returning to original source of certain clips.
• The snippets view cards are much thicker than before, further wasting tons of screen real estate.
• No longer able to control Evernote staying in the tray in-app. Need to use other tools to remove it.
• Increase in cost, decrease in usability and decrease in support response quality and speed over a few years.
• Quite a bit more that others have covered.

The final problem I have to me is the worst. Your release of a new product which is really a beta product or a minimum viable set of features shows that you don't care if you break my productivity system. You also don't seem to care if you waste my time with trialing such a product. I've stuck with Evernote for a while despite a slow erosion of the quality of their offering. I don't have time for a productivity tool that wastes this much of my time and probably will switch to Notion or some other better product. I don't take this lightly and have tried really hard to stay with Evernote.

Some good things:

• Finally fixing the sync architecture is nice if it works. I don't feel like testing it sadly for reasons above.
• Removing the second bar below the title and menu bars was really nice.

Whoever has redirected your company philosophy over the last few years probably needs their position reconsidered. Cancelling my longstanding annual sub today.

You might be happier using the Evernote Legacy product

I feel you. Thankfully I've had two weeks come to terms with this truth. I'm sorta at stage 5 now.

Thanks very much for the legacy link, @DTLow.

I am right there with you, @Coleberhorst.  It feels like Evernote has been on an overall downward trajectory for most of its life now.  They repeatedly deprecate important things, break workflows, and anger their users for no good reason; then gradually add things back and plug the holes, only to do it all over again.  There was a time when EN was just amazing, so far ahead of anything else.  For me, it was the killer app that made having a first-gen iPad really worthwhile.  But I can't remember the last time I was excited for an update, but it was definitely more than 6 years ago.  the first time they broke my organizational system I was enraged.  Now I meet each update with a shrug at best, occasionally frustration, and in this case resigned anger.

I'm not sure who they're trying to serve.  I'm not sure they are, either.
