AdamRC 0
When I try to install as system, an install window pops up briefly, and then i get an error: Do you have any documentation on this new install behavior? Guest
Evernote is only installed as a per-user install. It installs in the user profile directory. Link to comment

Solution Guest Posted October 8, 2020 Solution Share Posted October 8, 2020 Yes, this is new behaviour. I will find out if there's a technical or security reason for removing that ability. Link to comment

Thank you, this new behavior is going to prevent IT administrators from deploying to their environments and will render your product useless in that sense. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,115 Posted October 8, 2020 Level 5 Share Posted October 8, 2020 Or let us post a question: How is an admin going to a) upgrade existing EN installations in a company b) install new EN setups c) revoke access to and uninstall existing EN installations ? I am talking about remote and automated administration in a (say) medium sized company environment with 50 - 100 users. Link to comment

This is a big disappointment. There should be no binaries in the profile directory — software goes into "Program Files." And it is a poor install experience, since the installer has to be ran as Admin when the previous version has been installed to "Program Files." Sounds like v10 is an Electron app. 😣 Going to be a repeat of the disastrous Evernote 3.5 .NET rewrite. Link to comment

I know why this was done. It can now be silently updated behind your back without needing admin permission. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,115 Posted October 29, 2020 Level 5 Share Posted October 29, 2020 After „updating“ to V10, every further update can only move things uphill ... But my question from above is still not answered: How do one install EN clients on a set of managed PCs, probably using AD and other management tools in an enterprise environment ? Users can’t do, not allowed admin rights. Link to comment
Guest
I'm working on getting an update out with per-machine install support. /S (silent install) /allusers (per-machine) /currentuser (per-user) Options will be added. Install Options Dialog will show if Run As Administrator on installer. Link to comment
