I've just tested this out with a note(recipe) containing 8 images.. I've been wondering for a while why it chose that image for thumbnail.. from the beginning it have never been the image with the shortest long side. but I found that it had the shortest short side, so I've have now tried resizing both the image it chose and the image I want.. to no avail.. I've tried making new notes, but it keeps choosing that image.. I just can't make any sense of why THAT image?? But at least I can say that it no longer chooses the shortest long side. (I've both resized them in original form and in the note..) also I've made sure that they have the same format(jpg). and I've checked the images in both the windows version, android app and webbrowser. Any Ideas what I'm doing wrong or if they have changed it? I've attached the two images.. the bread image is the image I want.. (anyone)your very welcome to try making a note with these two images and let me know how, if you succeed in using the right thumbnail in the browser or on app(since it takes a long time before the windows version show the real thumbnail).

This just doesn't explain why the desktop and the phone (both always online) show different thumbnails for 7 days.. I use evernote multiple times a day on the phone and at least 1 time a day on desktop.. If I ever find these thumbnails synchronized.. I will update you on the fact here..

Well it's Been about 7 days since I found the thumbnail changed in the app.. And I can see at this moment that the thumbnail still hasn't changed on pc.. I will keep having a lookout for it.. If it ever changes on pc.. 👀

I usually use windows.. But I tested it in the app the other day.. And at first it worked.. But then the thumbnail had changed the next day, but only on the phone app. The thumbnail on pc didn't change.. So the thumbnail can unfortunately be different from pc to phone.. But I believe that it works if one uses evernote on pc.

I also make recipes.. My solution is to always adding the thumbnail image first.. THEN the title of the note.. And save it(if on phone) And the note will then hang on to that image as the thumbnail.. Because of the fact that a thumbnail can't be changed. Well at least I've never experienced it yet. It might be worth trying out. I sure love evernote on so many aspects.. And my experience is that most apps have something that are a bit annoying, but find the app that have most good points(enough to ignore the annoying ones) 🙃

You can fix it quite simply by ctrl+A while in the note to select everything, then ctrl+C to copy.. Now create a new note and use ctrl+V to paste it.. Name the note the same as the original note. Check that all pictures and text is there.. And then delete the old note.. If the thumbnail isn't in the note then it cannot become the thumbnail. 😊

I actually couldn't find my post but after a while I found it on page two instead of the end with the new posts because of a vote. And I know it's how it's supposed to be.. It just seems like many don't look at the first pages and so keep asking the same question..

This is possible! I wrote this long time ago.. But if you start a new note.. The 1(picture for the thumbnail) should be the very first thing to put in.. Then when you 2(write the title) of the note it will update the thumbnail and then you can paste or write anything else.. The thumbnail won't change again in this note.. If you've copied and pasted from another note.. You can then delete this old one..

I totally agree that they should implement it!! ASAP as long as I see regular updates I'm thinking that they are working hard to make everyone happy.. I imagine that there are loads of wishes from loads of loyal users.. so I'm trying to make it work while I look forward to every update and keep telling them which issues we meet. It's like they are starting from scratch but with all the long developed demand. I'm thinking IF your note "only" contain text and images... can't you then make a new note paste the thumbnail first, paste the title second(then you don't need to wait), then paste the whole note including images(ctrl+a) above the image.. then perhaps resize the thumbnail image so much that it almost disappears.. this is far from optimal, but it might work? ..also I know nothing of the web client.. I only use the pc program(editing) and the android app(viewing).

It seems you are right! I just tried to create an new note, pasting the image in first.. then waiting patiently for the thumbnail to appear about a minute or so... then adding my pdf file... so far the thumbnail has stayed as the image.. conclusion.. every time you make a new note.. make sure to put in your wanted thumbnail in the note first and then wait till it shows before adding any other image sources.. while waiting you could fill out any text that you were going to... or use the time finding the pdf, image and so forth... you would "simply" need to make it a habit to think what thumbnail as the very first thing when making the note.. the biggest problem would then be if you change your mind or forget.. you would have to make a new note, put in the thumbnail.. then copy paste the rest of the note.. and delete the old note.. what a hassle for a thumbnail.. Edit: To make it even faster I found that if you add the Title after the image then it updates immediately!

I'm all in for this!!! I just discovered something even worse.. no matter how big I make an image in the note, if there are an PDF file attatched then it shows the PDF.. and PDF's are rarely better looking or more informative on the front page than an image

exactly the same with me. I minimize evernote after using it in the morning and then when I try to open the window up again in the evening.. I can't. and I also can't close it. I have to force it to close with the joblist. this has happened at least the last three days. I updated the app today but still the same this evening:(

I use tables to write recipes in.. but I just found that when trying to indent inside the table you have to use the button with the mouse.. if you try using the shortcut Ctrl + M it just skips to the next field like when you use Tab.. so both Tab and Ctrl + M do the same thing.. at least make the Ctrl + M into an indent shortcut.. maybe it's an error?
