  1. I needed to buy a present for my wife. Connection made to a note from 2016 that confirmed a preference. The external brain strikes again.
  2. I went to Onenote, but I'm back. I couldn't get reliable syncing, and the web clipper isn't as good. Getting emails into it from gmail wasn't 100% effective, though, as you'd expect, adding from Outlook was brilliant. Anyway, the upshot was, that although although EN lacks some features and has taken some mis-steps, I still prefer to stick with them, as from my personal perspective and for my workflows EN still offers a better package.
  3. A problem with onenote is that notes created in the desktop version cannot be viewed or edited in the web version That might be historic - I’ve been using desktop, web and mobile for work projects for 12 months on Windows, Chrome, IOS and Android and it’s been fine. Downsides are slow to load when changing device, and I had some sync and notebook issues, but that was when I first had to use it. (Our corporate preference is ONeNote). It’s been solid for months.
  4. Sorry, this wasn't pointed at you personally, and I understand the frustration. I hadn't been adversely affected by the updates until today. Today I have been using the desktop windows version and was trying to update an existing work template for a new project and found that EN couldn't keep up with my typing, I am a two finger typist. It was like being on a dial up connection to a forum in the early 90's. I had to cut and paste the template to a Word document to be able to work on it in the end. This never used to be the case. So maybe Onenote is the best alternative for what I do and is the answer for me. The EN sluggishness has only just started affecting me. Also ON has improved its syncing and resilience over the last 12 months. I still don't think ON is as good as the old EN, but then clearly neither is EN!
  5. If you think that Onenote (for example) has no issues then you are wrong. Lots on their Reddits etc about loss of data, lock outs, slow syncing. I'm no EN fanboy, but surely if it's that bad go somewhere else. Stop complaining here and use the forum for the "new super note app" to tell them how great the new alternative product is. In my experience the alternative that does it all doesn't exist. Ian Small has been sensible in his interviews, the changes are for the many, not the superusers. I believe him when he says missing features will come back. Keep the faith. Or tell me where the mythical better product is....
  6. So much moaning and negativity, when EN have been quite honest that features that are "power user" only and get the least use are the ones that will be last to be reinstated (and that some might be so niche as to not come back). For me, user on web, windows and IOS the new versions are more consistent and the new Home feature seems good, though not a gamechanger in workfow. I see so much on this forum about moving to alternatives, but very few doing it and being happy enough with the changes not to be coming back here. I have looked at alternatives.I am encouraged to use Onenote at work, as part of their corporate strategy, and have tried Notion, but the fact is that as an EN user since 2013, having defined my workflows, tagging and systems nothing beats EN for me - still. We all hate change, but no-one could argue that the web version hasn't improved massively, and most changes in my experience are just taking a different but consistent route to performing an action. This should be a place to discuss our experiences in working with the product, and our ideas for making it better, not an escape committee. Other software forums would be shutting down the type of content that appears here.
  7. I really hope that this is coming back. I am on the new Windows version which has lost the facillty, and really only found out it couldn't be done any longer when I was trying to close a project down by creating a ToC. I hear that lots of the old features are expected back - I really like Home and am getting used to the new layouts and still think this is the best notes app out there, but frustrating to lose functionality.
  8. Same problem - makes the Android app on Chrome unusable, so I have to switch to web. Beyond annoying, as I use my Chromebook as default entry system.
