Thanks. I had not used the universal command to create new notes, but see the value and plan to do more of that. YOu are right, the notebook the note is going to be saved in is visible, and I just need to look at it before closing the note.

I love the ability to create a note with Ctrl + Alt + N regardless of what I am doing on my Windows computer. What I am fidning is that the note is filed in whatever Evernote notebook I was working in last, even if I haven't touched Evernote for hours. I would like for new notes created with than keyboard shortcut to be saved in the default notebook unless I specifically choose another notebook. Is there a setting I am missing that would allow me to a note created with this universal shortcut to go in my default notebook?

I am running Evernote Windows Version 10+ on my computers and the legacy app on my Android phone. I have a saved search that returns notes created today (created:day) and another that returns notes updated today (updated:day-0). (I also have similar ones that return that info for the last 2 days, 3 days, and week, but let's just use these 2 ). I've used these two saved searches for years and they return correct results. The results I get on my the Windows search and the Android search are different from each other. Last night, I was seeing Windows miss notes that the Andoird app returned. This morning, I started by creating a junk note (so that that was the one and only thing either created or updated today)and ran the following test: 1) I ran this search: updated:day and expected it to find 1 note. Windows returned the correct note along with 5 notes updated yesterday. The Android legacy app retturned the 1 note created this morning. 2) I ran this search: created:day and expected to find 1 note. Windows and Android both returned the same one note. 3) I ran this search: created:day-1 and expected to find 2 notes...the test note I created for this experiment and the one and only note I created yesterday. The Android legacy returned those two notes. Windows returned those 2 AND 1 from the evening of Dec. 13. (Today is December 15.) I also ran this search as follows: created:20201214 and got the same result with Widnows... the note created today (Dec. 15) and note created yesterday (Dec. 14) and a note created at 6:40PM on Dec. 13. Obviously, the same saved search should be returning the same results regardless of the platform or version. I am wondering if the search is somehow looking at not only the DATE but the TIME as it returns hits. In other words, a search performed on the morning of Dec. 15 for "day-1" should be searching for notes results from Dec. 14 or later. I wonder if it's searching for notes from the past 48 HOURS (or some other number of hours). I also wonder if there is a time zone error. I also wonder (lots of wondering going on this morning) if there has been a change in the syntax language used in Version 10. Has anyone worked enough with saved searches involving day references to shed some light?

This solution worked...but I had to add one thing: Clear the old search. Below is the set of instructions you provided with the addition of this step. Open Evernote Notice it's displaying the results of an old search Clear the old search Close the Evernote window Notice that Evernote is still running in the system tray Click Quit Evernote from the system tray icon Open Evernote again - this is the important middle step. It doesn't display the old search Shut down PC Start PC Open Evernote Evernote opens without displaying the old search Many thanks!

Proclus, I am finding that if the "checkbox" is the first item in the line, it concerts to a member of a "checklist" upon hitting <enter>. If the checkbox is something other than the first item, the checkbox holds as is. An example might be a person is using an EN note as a to-do list, and one of the items is "Drink 8 glasses of water." The person would have a "checklist" of which "Drink 8 glasses of water" is one of those items. To the right of that task, the person creates 8 "checkboxes." During the day, the person clicks one of the checkboxes to put an "x" in it. You would find those "checkboxes" hold because something else is before them in that line.

Mike, Thanks for the response. I did give that a try...close Evernote through the system tray and then rebooting. Evernote opened to the same old search.

I am running Evernote 10 for Windows on my laptop and the legacy Windows Desktop client on my desktop computer. On the laptop (Windows 10 software), I conducted a particular search. Ever since, when I open the Evernote Windows 10 software on that laptop, it opens with that search term in the search window and the results of that search showing. I have conducted many other searches since on that laptop. However, each time boot the computer and open Evernote, that search term and results show. I am not seeing that problem on the legacy desktop client on my other computer nor on Evernote Web. Also, I notice if I clear the search the search, exit and Evernote, and restart Evernote, I do not see the problem. However, if I reboot the computer abd start Evernote, that search result appears.

Wow, thanks! That worked on Evernote Web and Evernote Windows desktop.. That does give a solution...combine the two shorts and enter Shift + Alt + D and then Shift + Ctrl + D to get the date and time. Not nearly as convenient as Ctrl + seicolon and will take some getting used to, but that will work.

I use the date/time shortcut frequently inside notes. (Control + semicolon). In the new Windows desltop software, I see on the list of keyboard shortcuts that Shift + Alt+ D inserts date and time. For me, it's inserting the date but no time. Does anyone have any insight into this point?

Thanks for the replies so far. I tried exiting Evernote and opening the program again. I also tried using F5 to cycle through the views in the preview pane. Neither solved the issue. I went to Evernote Web. The note displays correctly in the preview pane there.

I have only noticed the following issue on a couple of notes, but am interested in the cause, a quick way to find other notes which may have been impacted, and the easiest way to resolve the error. Lets say I have two notes: Note A and Note B When viewing Evernote for Windows in the side panel, I see a note that has the title for Note A, but the preview and preview picture are that of Note B. When I open that note, I see the title for Note A and the contents for Note A. In other words, when I open the note, it displays correctly. Note B displays properly in both the sidebar and when the note is opened. As a fix (if it's just on a couple of notes, and hopefully it is), my thinking is to start by duplicating Note A and then deleting the original Note A. Hopefully, thtat would get rid of whatever is causing the incorrect information to be pulled into the preview. I don't think anyting else is linking to that note, so I don't foree a problem with a dead link.

Someting along the line of the Broken Link Checker site was along the line of what I was thinking. I tried entering the URL for my Evernote account. I got a message that you had to have a padi account for any url with a "/". Probably the best option is not to worry about it and just delete links as I try to use them and find they are broken.

I am moving all of my bookmarks from Google Bookmarks into Evernote. During the process, I am (no surprised) finding broken links. I have by no means tried every single link, so I am sure I have missed some. Is there any way that I can find links (URLS to outside sources) to web pages that no longer exist?

I want to be clear that every Gmail thread has its own link, just as if it was a webpage. I can put a link to a Gmail message in an Evernote note. Here is the results: 1. In Evernote desktop client, click the link to the Gmail message and Gmail opens to that message. 2. In Evernote web, click the link to the Gmail message and Gmail opens to that message. 3. In Android mobile app, click the link to the Gmail message. The Gmail app does not open. Instead, the Gmail inbox opens in the broweser on the mobile device instead of opening to the specific message. That's where the problem lies.

Thanks for the info. When I put a link to a Gmail message in an Evernote note, I am not also copying the text into Evernote; I'm just putting the link because there is a reason for accessing the email rather than simply the text contained in it. That's why the link in Evernote is so useful from my desktop computer and why it would also be helpful from my mobile device.

How do I get hyperlinks to specific emails to open to that specific email in the Android mobile app? If I click a hyperlink of a specific email (by URL string) that I have saved in Evernote, when I the link from the Windows desktop client or Evernote Web, that specific message opens in Gmail. When I do the exact same thing from the Android Evernote app, the link does not even open the Gmail app it does not open that email. In fact, it does not open my gmail app (Android) but rather opens to the inbox of the browser's Gmail app. How do I get hyperlinks to specific emails to open to that specific email in the app? NOTE: I really think this is more of a Gmail issue than Evernote issue. I am seeing the exact same thing with the Remember The Milk mobile app. A saw this question posed on a Gmail forum, but there were no answers given.

Thanks! Found"Auto-title using location" was unticked. "Auto-title using calendar event," however, was already ticked. We'll see if the combination of both being ticked gives the desired results.

I am glad that search is now working again thanks to the latest Android upgrade. I am noticing two differences and wondering if others are seeing the same thing. Also wondering if there perhaps a setting that needs to be rechecked somewhere. 1) When I search on the Android app, I seem to remember that the search would not only return notes meeting the criteria, but would highlight each instance of the search term in the notes it returned. Am I remembering that correctly? On the latest version (8.9.1), search is working, but not highlighting. 2) When I create a new note, if there is an entry on my Google Calendar at that time, the default title of the note has always been the name of the meeting. That is no longer happening. The title of the note is blank. (Maybe this is by design. Perhaps most didn't find it a useful feature.) Thanks for any light you can shed. Frank

Shane, Shane, I was looking at my version number yesterday and it was 8.9.1 then. I looked at the date of the last update and it said May 10. Is it possible this announcement was written on May 10 and was just now posted?

The solution suggested earlier in this thread worked for me: Android app -> Settings -> Search and Storage -> clear local search history & clear cache. However, the next day, the problem returned. Ran the same fix and search worked again. Are others experiencing the same thing? Are you having to run the fix every time you you restart the phone? Or does it have to do with every time the app syncs? Trying to identift the variables here.

Bidel, Evernote is exactly the right software to organize your notes. Wish I had it 20 years ago when I did my dissertation. I suggest your research project be a STACK and each chapter in your project be a NOTEBOOK. Each entry will be a NOTE. Use TAGS to identify the to[ic for each note.

Take a look at CloudHQ.net. But, you can also do a one-way sync. In your case, you could do a one-way sync from OneNote to Evernote. You could then turn the sync off if you wanted. You would be able to do what you want to do for free.
