  1. I'm wondering if the clipper is not working again. Further to the recent posts, I went to several different clipped articles with tags - all on wildly different topics - to see if tags would be suggested. Lo and behold - the clipper selects the same one notebook regardless of topic (and no tag). I'm working in Safari / MAcOS.
  2. The latest update to the clipper seems to have resolved the problem.
  3. Thanks, I did. It is really an underrated feature of the clipper if it fits your work needs.
  4. It is also not working for me. Smart filing has been incredibly useful and accurate over the years, I must say - I use it to file news stories for my teaching. The clipper correctly chooses the right notebooks and tags most of the time.
  5. Thank you for the reply and careful and clear explanation. The article that does not clip from the iPad clips into Notion using the shating mechanism. In germs of the last point about the legacy app, That was what support recommended doing. Thank you.
  6. Thank you for the reply. I certainly do not pretend to understand the technical reasons why this is happening on iOS/iPad but not Legacy. The same articles that do not clip in Evernote clip fully in Notion (which leads to another issue - a "fix" may be possible, but the response from support indicated otherwise...). In terms of just clipping in Legacy, it simply is quite inefficient. I do most of my reading and research on the iPad, and want to file and make notes right away, and I don't then want to process a bunch of articles later on a computer when I could have already filed them. Thanks!
  7. Hi, I'm a longtime premium subscriber. I use an iPad for news and research and I clip a lot of news articles for my work. In recent weeks, I've noticed that articles clipped from my iPad and iPhone (but not Evernote Legacy on a MacBook) from news sites with subscriptions do not always clip. To be clear, this is from newspapers I have a paid subscription for and am logged in to when I try to clip. In other words, clipping using Evernote Legacy clips the full article, but from my iPad and iPhone the content of the article itself does not always clip (e.g. using both iPad and iPhone, I tried clipping two articles from the same newspaper - one regulalry clipped fully and the other didn't - browser didn't matter - Safari and Brave and Chrome produced the same results). I've already contacted support. After trying various solutions without success, I was told that this " issue is an expected behavior in the new Evernote app" (which unfortuantely makes the app not very usable if I cannot know that my clipping did not work). In the end , I was advised to simply clip using legacy (which from a workflow perspective adds a lot of duplicated work). Has anyone else encountered this problem? Has anyone developed better workarounds? Thanks!
  8. I noticed that too. Came out of the blue...
  9. EN Legacy might be the best. The big advantage EN has is the web clipper and smart filing (at least until the very latest update, which is worrisome) - I use EN for it. Another strike against Joplin right now is you can't save web articles on the iPad (as best I can tell), and I work a lot on it.
  10. Sorry, I thought I was replying to a different but related post - it was about the Joplin Clipper needing too many clicks.
  11. Hi, Thanks for the tips. I tested Joplin and it shows promise, but I agree with Vstk about clicks. Then there was a new Evernote update a few weeks ago, so I gave it another shot, and the web link issue was finally fixed. It was working fine. However, with the latest update, I notice now that the web clipper always goes to the inbox even when "Use smart filing" is the option chosen... Sigh...

  13. Hi, I rely heavily on the web clipper and search function for my research and writing. EN legacy worked very well - in part because URL's would be visible when you first look at the note. The new version of EN in my view is less user friendly - my old notes no longer have web links (unless you click 3 or 4 times in note info). Even new clippings require two clicks to get to the web page. I tried Notion and Zoho notes but they have not worked for me. Any recommendations (apart from staying with legacy)? I am a Mac / ioS user. Thanks.

  15. With the legacy version, you can see the URL in the heading
  16. I use Mac, so I downloaded the legacy version for now: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote It works fine. I sometimes work in Windows, and Evernote is ok there, as best I can tell. Yet another problem is with iOS - on an iPad, clipping an article from Safari works, but it does not insert the title into the note.
  17. The failure to have titles included in web clippings is a major failure. Will this be fixed, along with the tagging issue?
  18. Hello, There is some type of problem in the the Mac version for notes before the update: the information is there, but it adds several clicks as opposed to just going to the link. See the difference for the same note in Mac and Windows (screenshots attached). Compare it to a new note, and the link is there (although you need to click to get the link) - the old note says "HTML content" but a new note says "web clip."
  19. Hi, my primary use for Evernote premium is the web clipper, saving articles for my work. I regularly need to go back to the original source. In the new version of Evernote, links to URLs for articles saved as notes using the web clipper have disappeared from the heading, as best I can tell. Now we have something called web clip in a note, and the URL is hidden. This is poor design, as it forces you to do two clicks to go to the original source of your note. More problematic is the fact that for thousands of my old clips, the note does not have a heading of "web clip" but instead has something called "HTML content." You are not able to go to the source of the note. Instead, you need to go to the three dots in the top right, then click on note info, and then click on the link. I've attached a screenshot. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a workaround? Thanks, Richard
