  1. Yeah I get that I'm the outlier. It's also weird that the insert > checkbox works at the beginning of a line without converting a bullet list to checklist, but the [ ] shortcut does not. It's just odd inconsistent behavior.
  2. OK I searched for it but couldn't find it discussed anywhere. So we are forever stuck with not being able to have a checkbox in the first position of a list like I've been doing on legacy for the last 10 years? It's not like it's a dealbreaker at all, just frustrating to change my workflow. It just feels like a bug. Why would anyone intentionally want to use [ ] to change a bullet list into a checklist?
  3. Is this supposed to work like this? Or am I doing something wrong? If I have a bullet list and use the [] checkbox shortcut, it converts the entire list into a checkbox list (the same as command + C). The only way to use checkboxes in a list is to either change my habits and use it at the end of the line of text (odd) or even worse start adding extra characters like .[] or /[] so it doesn't cover the list. I'm on the most recent update. In legacy you could insert a checkbox anywhere with impunity. Now all my bullets are being replaced with checkboxes.
  4. My experience is that the iOS version will never sync at any point unless force sync is initiated by the user. Correction: it turns out if I wait for 5 minutes a sync eventually starts on its own. So perhaps you have to sit there and hope it initiates during that time. It's still to slow to be used in the way I would use Apple notes or any background syncing software I've used. The fact there is no indicator of sync state makes this even more problematic. Also the pull to sync does not initiate a sync for me. It does the spinning wheel for a second but nothing happens. It won't even clear the green "unsynced" state indicator. About half the time I have to force quit and restart to be able to force sync. I have a very strong internet connection so that's not the problem. I don't understand how the app generates conflict with itself. Many of the conflicts I get are when working with a single device. I'm glad sync works for some people, but no amount of uninstalling and reinstalling the app gets it to work for me. This is similar to how I had no shortcuts appearing in the iOS app for months and no amount of reinstalls brought them back. Then after about 6 months of updates they magically returned. So that's great news if they are working on a solution to the sync problem.
  5. Correct, so I tend to use iOS as read-only. It generates fewer conflicts if I avoid editing any notes. I’m really not trying to exaggerate this. I’ve been using Evernote daily for over 10 years and this sync problem only has affected me with the new versions. I thought about a corrupted database, but that would mean it’s corrupted on their server since it affects all my machines. New notes conflict too. My only explanation is that sync is silently failing in the background despite saying it’s completed. Often, my conflicting notes appear identical to me so it might be meta data differences or something? I don’t know. I really hope they can fix it as macOS v10 does appear to be improving over time in speed and features. For iPad maybe my M1 is too slow for the app and it’s not syncing due to processor limitations on that platform? Another possible contributor is how I use the app on iOS. I’m often multitasking going between two apps. It may be that when Evernote is put into a background state that interferes with sync and can generate conflicts. One other thing I’ve noticed: manual sync on iOS often gets stuck in an infinite spiral and I have to force quit to get manual sync to work again (again on multiple devices: iPhone 11, M1 iPad Pro, older iPad Pro 10.5”). I guess creating a totally new account with no notes in it might fix all of this be that defeats the purpose of the platform for me.
  6. just some more data: I get conflicts almost 100% of the time on iOS - that is to say I get a conflict while working on one device in isolation, new conflicts are generated as I work. On macOS Evernote 10 if I’m lucky I can go several hours before a conflict arises (again still only using one device the entire time). More often I get about six or seven conflicts upon opening the application, which tells me that it did not sync during the prior session. I’ve tried everything I can think of including closing the application and restarting, letting it sit there for up to 30 minutes, force re-opening the note with command R. I just cannot convince Evernote to sync. This behavior is occurring with an iPhone 11, M1 iPad Pro, older 2016 MacBook Pro, and an M1 MacBook Air. The only time I reliably can avoid conflict is if I’m using legacy on multiple devices. For whatever reason the new apps in iOS and macOS just does not sync my notes. For that reason I’ve basically stayed on legacy. Every few months I give v10 and iOS a try. Today alone I have generated 3 conflicting notes working with just one iPad.
  7. The problem is you can't use [ ] in a list of bullets else it converts the entire list into strike out checklists.
  8. One last update. Just tried 10.32 with native M1 support and this is MUCH faster on my M1 MacBook Air. Windows open nearly instantaneously. I'm afraid to say this, but it's running faster than the legacy app ever ran.
  9. One annoying bug (feature?) of the checkbox [ ] autocomplete is that if you type it after a bullet point list it converts the bullet list into checklist. Am I missing something? I'd like a shortcut for Insert > checkbox. So far all I can figure out is typing a period before the checkbox .[ ] to prevent conversion of the bullet list into checklist.
  10. OK the command R in the note seems to refresh something, I'll try that in the future. I see the "all changes have been synced", I just don't believe it.
  11. OK makes sense. I really wish they had a force sync option on desktop. I don't really trust that the app has synced when I stop working on it.
  12. I'm getting a lot of duplicates of a single note. I don't have multiple machines using it at the same time. I think I'm seeing more of a scenario where the note is open on a closed machine and when I wake that machine it conflicts it's old version on the server. I'm not sure why they can't just use time stamps for edit state like other sync software to know what the most temporally recent version is.
  13. Well maybe I spoke too soon. It looks like on an old 2016 Intel MBP i7 the windows are opening in about 2-3 seconds. On my M1 MacBook Air it is more like 5-10 seconds. Both have presumably fully downloaded all the content (can see the note fully rendered in the right sided window). Perhaps the difference is M1 Rosetta vs. Intel native. I think Evernote is still not M1 native on MacOS. I'm not sure what setting you're talking about. I have save data at logout checked. I don't see any settings under Files.
  14. Update - it looks like the new version update to 10.29.7 made a big difference. Now the note launch time is about 2-3 seconds. Not perfect but totally usable.
  15. I think this is likely bad coding or something. Performance just going through notes on M1 MacBook Air is OK if I'm clicking through a list. However, if I try to double click the note to pop out into it's own window it takes 5-10 seconds of staring at a blank window until something happens. The content is already rendered in the main application note so it should propagate to the pop out window quickly I imagine. Perhaps instead of using database data it goes off to the web and downloads new data. However the behavior is the same if the Wifi is off so I have no idea. I feel like version 10 is slowly getting better, but they really need to address speed before feature parity I think. No one has time to sit around for 20 seconds for a note to load each time.
  16. I'm testing out version 10 a bit (still using legacy while I can). I can get into different notes relatively fast if they are viewed in the main application. However if I open the note in a pop out window it takes up to 10 seconds of staring at a blank note that appears to have been already rendered in the main viewer. This is really terrible. Is this normal behavior? I'm using an M1 MacBook Air and have fast internet connection. Also, are the notes really never downloaded? It looks like no content is present unless I'm connected to wifi, despite the app telling me that it is synced.
  17. If they could make the font size larger on the iOS interface that would be fine. But also the iOS version seems to be limited to one instance etc. I would think a benefit of moving to an electron style app would be that a web browser version should work well cross platform? Slack works very well in Safari for example. They could even add keyboard shortcuts via Safari I think. The iPadOS version of Evernote feels pretty neglected.
  18. This appears to a relatively new issue. Prior sketches that I have still show up clearly, while newer ones are pixelated and low resolution.
  19. Interesting. I can’t get anything other than an arrow to show up. Oddly the pen tool also doesn’t work with touch input either.
  20. Is this a known issue? I'm trying to annotate a .PNG on my iPad and all it will let me do is make an arrow. All the other annotation options result in no changes to the image. Also if I accidentally hit add text there is no way to get out of the interface without force closing the app. Several times the app just stopped responding entirely. This is an M1 iPad Pro so should be fast and have enough RAM to handle this task.
  21. Interesting. Chrome goes to a page saying Evernote is not “supported on iPhone browsers”. Still getting instant crashes on Safari even after reboot. I think I’ll stick to macOS. Thanks for the suggestions.
  22. Thanks I gave up on Evernote support years ago, unfortunately. Most times the support person starts offering suggestions for different platforms and is only half paying attention (e.g. giving recommendations for macOS when I’m using iOS). The only hope is if someone here can tell me if some feature should work or not.
  23. Sorry I forgot to mention it also happened on iPadOS 14.8 too. Good idea about the classic editor. I'll try Chrome too, but that doesn't have text resizing options like Safari if I recall correctly.
  24. I can’t read the very small text in the iOS Evernote app and there is no way to change the text size other than manually zooming the page each time, which is cumbersome. Also the zoom doesn’t reflow the text so it’s like trying to read on an iPhone before text reflow was implemented. I’m able to log in to Evernote web on Safari in iPadOS 15 using my iPad Pro 2021. Browsing works but any attempt to edit text crashes Safari fully 100% of the time (crash to desktop and takes the whole application down). Is Evernote still not viable on iOS Safari (supposed to work like a desktop version I thought?). Really the native client should have default text size options.
  25. Yikes. This is my primary use case for Evernote as well, annotating scientific articles and writing about them in the body of the note. I haven't moved over the Evernote 10 yet due to loss of features. I'm amazed that they would mess this up too. What a nightmare.
