By the way, anyone who has spent a considerable amount of time with EN owes it to themselves to spend several weeks (or even months) trying out v10 before migrating to a different system.
IDOC: This is PRACTICAL due to DEPENDENCE. If there were truly comparable or viable alternatives to EN... without the PAIN factor... I think it reasonable to assume there would be a MASS MIGRATION away from EN.
It is EN's job to satisfy its customer base and bring LOVE to the table... not the customer base to bend over backwards to make things work with a BETA-level release that NOBODY is happy with based on past product. To date, there are many functionalities broken or missing from v10 vs. 6.25.
USERS don't work for EN... EN works for its USERS measured by performing as represented!

The deeper your love story with the old clients have been, the more likely you are to run some pretty finely tuned workflows. This can cause problems, especially when scripting or tools that rely on scripting are involved.
But this does not help: If EN is a tree, it is growing all over, except that branch you know will loose all the leaves soon, and fall off the tree one day. This branch is labeled "legacy" - you just don't know when it will fall. But I would not put the childrens new swing to it (= invest any effort for workflows that depend on it).
You can use a second (free) account to test v10 - if it works, fine, if not I would prepare to move soon - if the branch falls off, it may be with little warning.
I did try it... much with an open mind... however with the loss of features that I depend on and use every day... v10 was simply not a working option... and within 10-MIN I returned to Legacy.

No problem with me - but if I were you, I would go looking.
BTW I can't reproduce "all issues" and "not considering v10" - for me it is working fine, covering an estimated 95% of my requirements. The rest is still covered by legacy - but if I open it once a week now, it was a busy legacy week. There is simply not much need any longer to do so, and when I do, it feels pretty antique.
Hi PinkElephant. Glad to hear someone is happy with v10... however a NEGATIVE sentiment among experienced users appears to be prevalent by a large margin.

Hi. 6.25.2 is the Legacy version. 6.25.1 is the last public release prior to v10
Thank you. With all EN issues, I will not even consider v10. When forced before EN issue have been resolved... my notes will have to find another home.

Hello idoc and all
May I assume my version is the 6.25 you refer to vs. Legacy?
6.25.2.9198 (309198) Public (CE Build ce-62.6.10954)THX.

It is dawning upon me that perhaps the reason why the version I have at home is much better is because at the work place Legacy version the settings were changed. For example, at home I can type any search term and never experience a freeze. At work, I need to actually type the searches slowly else the whole thing freezes and I get the "evernote is not responding" message. I will make sure that all the settings are identical on both before I re-assess.
Hi Idoc:
Interested to know if you have discovered what SETTINGS eliminate FREEZE and NOT RESPONDING... and how to implement if successful.

Hello all:
I have fired MS and replaced all their software except the Win 10 which came bundled with my laptop purchase in 2018.
Now I am seriously considering giving ZOIN OS 16 a virtual go.
Thank you for a confirmation that EN Legacy will satisfactorily behave on WINE "without major problems"... which is now the only WIN application hold-out in consideration of making an OS transition to Linux.

Stay on Evernote v8 for Android
Search for a comparison Evernote vs. Joplin.
Other users have threads where they list supplements for Evernote. And Joplin ranks high, but you must check if it fits your needs.
https://joplin.cozic.net/Thank you, I have looked at Joplin and receive their forum updates as well...
however Joplin comes with many shortcomings as well...
not compelling enough. THX. -

In a Mac / iOS environment exist at least 2 alternatives, one probably more demanding & powerful (DEVONThink), one simpler, but functional (Apple Notes).
For Win/Android no idea. Whish you luck in identifying the best solution.

Oh pain, oh suffering - what I don’t understand is why you don’t simply move on if everything is so bad ?!
I would migrate to another app in a heart beat due to EN's subscriber and support mindset... however I have not found a Win 10 / Android note app that currently provides the comparable features available in Android Legacy v.8.13.3. Finding another app to migrate to is now a matter of SURVIVAL for my business needs... however irrational abondonement is not an option either.

Hi Alan,
Nobody here is going to offer you the 100% assurance you seek. We're all fellow travellers sharing the insights that we have. Especially when installing an application from an apk you are stepping out from the normal mode of operation. I fer you have to take some risk. The worst that can happen is that you fid that v8 fails to work and you uninstall and then reinstall v10.
All I would say is that the advice provide by others is what you can expect. It will almost certainly do what you need. Personally, I'm running Evernote 10 on a OnePlus 8 and it works just fine but clearly YMMV and apparently does.
Hello, agsteele:
Thank you for responding.
Regarding my comment about "100 CERTAINTY"... I have already made the ERROR of allowing ANDROID to update ALL apps... so I would like to AVOID making a 2ND error.
I decided to give Android EN v10 an unbiased chance... however its SYNCING is so delayed... 10-30 minutes... v10 is simply impractical for my purposes.
I would migrate to another app in a heart beat due to EN's subscriber and support mindset... however I have not found a Win 10 / Android note app that currently provides the comparable features available in Android Legacy v.8.13.3. I will UNINSTALL v10 and REINSTALL v.8.13.3... and report back in this thread.

I can't guarantee it *will work*, but can guarantee it *won't work* without uninstalling v.10 first. Every time I've done it it takes about 10 minutes to resync my 18,000+ notes.
Hi. I understand it is required that v.10 be UNINSTALLED.
What is not clear to me is... will uninstalling v.10 allow my android phone to next properly install the Legacy v.8.13.3 APK ?
Thanks. ~ Alan

Hello:
Would appreciate some HELP.
I made the scarey mistake of allowing multiple UPDATES on my OnePlus 8 Android phone... which replaced my android EN v. 8.33 to v.10.
The syncing feature alone is so slow as to be rendered unacceptable.
QUESTION
Can someone provide detailed instructions on how to install the LEGACY android v. 8 APK.(My phone is refusing to install this APK.)
Thanks much in advance.

v.10 is the first decent Evernote app for these platforms (the most used platforms in the world btw.) that i'm aware of.
Hello ehrt74:
Considering the all too many shortcomings of v.10 listed in this thread by long-time EN Subscribers...
HOW do you justify writing: "FIRST DECENT EN APP" ???
From a practical usage perspective... kindly detail your thinking.

Come on, folks. Killing the performance FOREVER in exchange of some programming convenience. Isn't that bad enough?
As a developer, I'd never commit such mistake. 90% people are complaining about the performance and bugs. New Evernote is sluggish, filled with hang bugs (those bugs which the screen turns blank empty, and never loads). It's unusable.
I'm running the Legacy, since few alternatives are worth (Nimbus Note is better in features, but is as slow as new Evernote, being another bad Electron app). I Hope you, guys behind the scene, KEEP the Legacy app supported (I mean, working as it's) for the next 5 years. I'll keep paying and using the Evernote up until the both Legacy Android and Windows apps keep working fine. Later, I'll probably move to Joplin.
Thanks!
Hello, Matheus:

Why don't you just use Evernote legacy and wait for Evernote 10 to be further along? Millions of people worldwide are already using Evernote 10 productively.
I really don't think there's a competent Evernote replacement out there. I don't know of any other app which has powerful APIs and search.
Hello, ehrt74:
AFFIRMATIVE... I am currently using WIN 10 - LEGACY 6.25.2.9198 (309198) Public (CE Build ce-62.6.10954) UNTIL a worthy and competent replacement becomes available (NOT currently available).

Hello, jono129:
Here is a Google search which may be helpful:
Evernote legacy compatibility Windows 11
I am close to firing Microsoft and Win 10... and buying a new LAPTOP (~ AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, WIN 11)... then I will partition and install Zorin 16 OS Linux (which I understand from Members of this forum, reliably runs EN Legacy using WINE).
I hope this may prove a little helpful.
