  1. Which I acknowledged in my original post. Bottom line for me is: doesn't do it in v8 or did it so seldom that I can't recall it being an issue. does it in v10 all the time same email app for both hence v10 is not optimal .
  2. Thanks Pink! Good to know for next time I have to uninstall EN off my phone to fix a glitch. .
  3. I'm seeing this in the desktop Windows10 EN v10 app and it occurs (sometimes, not that often) when copying a paragraph or sentence from a web page into an EN v10 note. But it occurs frequently when I try to copy text from a web accessed email. I have to view my corporate email via a browser MS Exchange session; no other options at this time. When I copy text from the body of an email and paste it into an EN note using v10, sometimes it pastes in perfectly as per the original most often it adds one blank line in between lines of text sometimes it adds in two blank lines in between lines of text. In some of the longer technical discussions/critical conversations it results in a lot of cleanup to remove the blank lines. I'm also running v8 on desktop and there is no issue with inserting blank lines. Most of the email I receive is HTML formatted. Its' possible there is a difference with non-HTML email. Have to find an example. I have found that you really have to be careful in selecting text to pick up hidden formatting codes but still, v10 seemed to have an issue that v8 never had. +++ Another issue noted recently: v8 v6 - When copying and pasting from a PDF body into a note, the paste function retains some of the formatting of the copied text. i.e. bold text v10 - does not copy over formatting; specifically bold text; 'CTRL V' and 'CTRL SHIFT V' output are identical I actually want the bold text to copy over but in EN v10 it doesn't. Not a game breaker but notable because this copying is something I have to do as a work around to a separate confirmed bug with searching text in a PDF. When you drop a PDF into an EN v10 note, most of the text gets indexed and is searchable but text with a very specific formatting (per my corporate product quotes) does NOT get indexed and is not searchable. To work around this I manually open the PDF in Adobe Reader, copy all the text from the body, and paste it as standard text under the location of the dropped in PDF and in this manner the key piece of text is indexed. A benefit is this text is readily viewable on my phone where previously I had to tap on the PDF icon to view the document in Android EN v8 v6 or v10. I'm working back through about a 1000 notes using v8 as a result. .
  4. Roughly 72 hours later..... still not complete. There are 3 notebooks yet to fully sync. .
  5. LOL yes.... tedious with prejudice. Roughly 48 hours later.... most notebooks show between 65% to 80% sync'd. Only 11 of 88 notebooks fully sync'd. .
  6. I'm seeing this in the desktop Windows10 app EN10 and it occurs when copying from a web page into an EN v10 note. Mostly 1 blank line is inserted but sometime 2 blank lines are inserted. So much cleanup to do at times. I'm also running v8 on desktop and there is no issue there. Also, v8 - When copying an pasting from a PDF body into a note, the paste function retains some of the formatting of the copied text. i.e. bold text v10 - does not copy over formatting I actually want the bold text to copy over in EN10 but it doesn't. I have indeed tried various hotkey combinations of copy & paste i.e. CTRL V to paste with formatting CTRL SHIFT V for unformatted text .
  7. Offline Notebook downloading is v e r y ..... s....l.... o.... w. After Becky's post I checked my offline notes status to ensure that EN10 had adopted my settings from EN8. Nope. Sigh! enable "Download All". I'm not a super user and have only just over 5000 notes so this should be quick eh?. 24+ hours later it looks like maybe 20% of the notes are downloaded judging by where the green bar is versus the overall length of the gray bar. Of 88 notebooks only 13 appear to have been completely downloaded (no green or gray bar) and most of these are notebooks with <20 notes in them. If I'm analyzing this correctly, that is underwhelming. Brings me back to my days of connecting via 9600 baud modems. I have 350 Mbps download from my ISP and the phone has remained connected by WiFi for 80% of that time including at least 7 hours overnight with little to zero activity. I don't recall EN8 for Android ever being that slow the couple of times I wiped it off my phone to fix one of the other glitches it was having. Is this truly representative of EN10 performance or am I doing something wrong here? I thought after 9 years with this app I had most of it figured out. .
  8. @dbvirago Thank you. I edited my post to clarify a couple of points, likely while you were typing out your response. PDF's? .
  9. @dbvirago@Alxa Tell me more about how to "mirror" your Evernote to Nimbus. Is it as simple as selecting your most updated notes and exporting them as an ENEX file that your then import into Nimbus? I'm quickly browsing their site and these following are not clear to me. When importing an ENEX file, does Nimbus recognize a preexisting note and overwrite the note in its app or does it create a duplicate? Can you drag & drop PDF's into a note that are scanned and the text indexed for searches? I put off updating to v10 because I was well aware that EN does not seem to be as rock solid in the Android world as the Apple world and with business travel almost non-existent for the past 2 years it was a fortuitous time to do so, as an Android phone user. But now I have to be ready to once again assume the road warrior role and I want key client info on my phone when offline. When I started using EN in 2013 it was because of that ability to store local notes and be able to view them in areas without cell coverage. If, with v10, I can't reliably view notes when offline, or create or add to notes when offline and sync as I get back into cell/wifi coverage, then what is the point? .
  10. Thanks. I see it now. Such an obvious spot to place it - 4 button taps deep. 🙄 It should be, at the least, in the sidebar menu called from the 3 horizontal lines button at lower left and in that sidebar menu be placed at the bottom either above or below the "Send Feedback" option - where it is "only" two taps deep in the menu structure. The same sidebar menu where the "Settings" button is found at upper right. .
  11. After finally moving from v8 to v10 a month ago, I've found a number of issues that are annoying but none as disturbing as what I've just realized in the past hour. Most of my updates to notes are made on a desktop version (both v10 and v8) run from my Win10 laptop. Last evening I updated a note just before bedtime using the Android app on my phone. I went to check it today ~18 hours later and, while the additions show on the phone, none of it has sync'd to v10 desktop or v8 desktop and the Evernote for Web via a browser. I used CTRL R on the desktop apps to force a sync and there was still no update. It looks like the Android app on the phone had not sync'd. In the process of checking what had gone wrong I first tried to find an option from the Android v10 Home screen to force a sync without success. I even tried pulling down my screen in the home page but nothing indicated a fresh sync had occured. I then elected to update another note via my Android app as a test. When done and I was back to the main page of the Notebook this newly edited note is in, I pulled down on the page more or less out of desperation to force an update and was pleased to see the swirling updating icon. Checking my the Web and desktop apps, I saw that the newly refreshed test note was there and NOW the note from the previous evening was showing updated. After 9 years of using the v8 interface, I'm not sure if this is a bug or a misunderstanding on my part of how v10 works. There have been a couple of other instances in the past 3 weeks where other notes did not show up on my desktop but which a CTRL R refreshed successfully. I have read the other threads on adding a SYNC button option and where I sit today I have to agree it may be needed. Is there a "fool proof" way to add to notes in the Android app and ensure they get sync'd? Unfortunately, in the process of sorting this out, I also spotted at least two duplicate notes that were created in the past couple of days and I'm not sure why but it is a desktop issue. .
  12. Just an update.... Here's the script I used in AutoHotKey to insert a date time stamp in the ISO8601 format. !d:: FormatTime, CurrentDateTime,, yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss SendInput, %CurrentDateTime% return outputs > 2022-08-06 13:18:49 where !d:: = ALT D I settled on "ALT D" as ALT D works in v10, v8, Notepad, and MS Word. in v10, ALT SHIFT D inserts Date in v10, CTRL SHIFT D inserts Time CTRL ALT SHIFT D .. worked in v10 but is just too cumbersome for my fingers CTRL ALT D .............. v10 (I forget); opens Text Formatting in v8 (if I recall correctly); works in Notepad. CTRL ALT 0 .............. does NOT work in v10; works in v8 (CTRL ALT numpad 0/INS key) CTRL ALT DOWN ..... does NOT work in v10; works in v8 (CTRL ALT down arrow) Some useful URL's https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/insert-date-time-in-any-program-using-keyboard-hotkey/ https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/FormatTime.htm https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/KeyList.htm .
  13. Oddly enough, a note I deleted on Friday or Saturday (deleted from within Legacy EN) is still showing in my Windows desktop V10 this Monday morning as I start work. Of course I clicked the SYNC button from the Legacy EN as is habit. As expected it is gone in my Windows Legacy EN but also in my V10 Android app. I spent several hours working within both Legacy and V10 EN after deleting this note and I have done a CTRL R and CTRL SHIFT R to reload the V10 desktop multiple times including again this morning. Notably the bottom right hand corner of my V10 window shows "All changes saved." .
  14. I've had two responses from EN since I submitted the ticket. I guess Tier1 and then Tier2. I think that is a quick response and deserves to be noted. They were able to reproduce the issue I am having and I have been advised it is a problem at EN's end that needs to be debugged. As expected, there is no way to give a firm date on when it will be resolved but I am happy enough to keep using Legacy EN, when working in my home office, to pull up data while resolving client inquiries. I'll also be doing a little extra work of manually copy & pasting part numbers as text into the notes as a work around for future notes and I will have to go back a few months in old notes to do the same for specific clients prior to road trips when I'm visiting their locations. For me it is all about what I can find and access quickly on my phone when on site, often in locations without a cell signal or WiFi. .
  15. I think I may not be explaining this clearly enough. I don't want to search a single PDF. I want to search multiple notes, many having a PDF dropped into them. Under Legacy EN we had the ability to search an entire NOTEBOOK of notes with PDF's dropped into them or using "NOTES" for all notes, search every single note (1000's of them) and be able to find text from within multiple PDF's dropped into various notes is multiple Notebooks. Every PDF had its' internal text indexed just like the text content of the note itself. It worked flawlessly for years for me. That is what I have here. Several years worth of notes with embedded (dropped) PDF's in several notebooks. I would select/open a notebook and then using the Search field, key in text and find that text ANYWHERE in a PDF and in multiple notes. I might have 1000 notes in a notebook and be able to pull out 15 with the particular information from within the main body of the PDF ONLY. Not from any other text anywhere else in the note, just in the PDF and in the centre portion of the PDF. I DID NOT have to click on a SINGLE PDF to search it. I simply had to open a NOTEBOOK and use the Search function for the entire Notebook. That functionality appears to be corrupted or missing in the new V10. I can not find any text from within the main body of these notes. Yet I can create a note with V10, drop a PDF into it, and then within seconds open Legacy EN and find this new note and several other notes with the same info. V10 finds NOTHING. ------ So..... refining the issue a bit more. This applies to data/text strings within the body of the PDF, not text elsewhere in the note. I have an obscure part number that looks like this.... AAA-NNNNNNN-NNNA i.e. XYZ-1234567-123M I can search for the entire XYZ-1234567-123M part number and Legacy will find it. V10 fails completely with this string. But if I only use the middle numerical portion "1234567" it will find all 4 notes that have this string of text in an instant, out of about 6000 notes . OR I can search on an extremely common part number that looks like AANNNAAAANAA. In Legacy, as I expand text string, I can see the found notes shrinking in real time, no waiting. AA finds 2000 notes AANNN finds 200 notes AANNNAAAA finds 150 notes etc etc In V10..... NOTHING. I have had this functionality with my Legacy PREMIUM account since 2013'ish. Has this ability to index and search PDF's been removed from V10 PERSONAL and is only a function of V10 PROFESSIONAL ???? . .
  16. I am having a similar problem since upgrading to V10 (EN Personal) from Legacy ( EN Premium) as found in this previous post. All my PDF's are from file folders that have remained in the same structure as the day they were dragged and dropped from File Manager into a Legacy Evernote note. I'm doing the same with notes since upgrading to V10. FYI, latest Windows 10 on a 6 month old laptop. I went thru this check list mentioned above and nothing there seems in conflict to my experience. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313388 With V10, it will find any text in the note & title but often dozens of PDF's with a copy-able text string cannot be found. Many of these are PDF's from before I upgraded and since I upgraded. If I then switch over to Legacy EN, ALL PDF's are searchable and the dozens of missing notes are found. What is strange is that these are quotes for materials given to clients. My problem comes up when I select a part number from the main body of the quotation - an area of columns & rows. If I select another portion of the document with copy-able text, such as a field title, it finds all the notes in the notebook with that text string. Also, when I open EN in a browser and try the same search, it also does not work. Neither does this search work in the mobile Android app. I use this functionality every single day, 99% of the time on the desktop and on occasion when I'm away from the office while on a client call. Why is Legacy fully functional and the new V10 Evernote, NOT ? .
  17. Thanks! Works great on the Windows desktop. Wish I'd something like this when I coded Paradox applications 30 years ago. Now to find the same function inside the Android app. .
  18. I've re-installed. Back to where I had it including new notes. Still an issue with date format not picking up the Windows 10 "Short" ISO8601 formats when using ALT SHIFT D and CTRL SHIFT D. Edit: Haven't tried in browser yet. Let's see.... No support for time stamps off an icon in the browser note editor. .
  19. EMSISOFT uses a BitDefender core engine + EMSISOFT mods I'm pretty sure it was a false positive just after a signatures update. Thought I had backed it out but appears I did not. Rebooted. EN was gone.
  20. Well.... it is all moot now. 😡 My anti-malware quarantined and deleted EN v10. Have to start over. .
  21. Thanks! Took a peek. Looks complicated. I do not want to learn scripting but do-able with some copy and pastes. However, I might keep working from the legacy version as I just saw an issue with searches where v10 is not finding data contained within PDF's I've dropped into notes. This new version is looking to be the nightmare I was trying to avoid. Now to find a thread re searching PDF's.
  22. I just updated this past weekend to the latest v10 of EN "Personal". Have been using v8 on my Android phone and with the matching Windows 10 app on my business laptop to this point since 2013. I tried to use the legacy v8 keyboard shortcut to insert a date & time and nothing happens. I then see that the keyboard shortcut has been changed from... " CTRL ; " ... to ... " ALT SHIFT D ". No problem, I can re-learn keyboard shortcuts and using "D" makes more sense for date & time insertion. The only problem is that this keyboard shortcut is inserting the date as July 6, 2022 and not 2022-06-06 as per the legacy app. Also, it only inserts the date so I have to use a second set of keystrokes " CTRL D " to insert the time. It appears that the time is being inserted with AM and PM and not the 24 hour format that I prefer and was using with the legacy app. I also noted that when using the TOP LIST View to view Notes, in the Updated column it shows the date as Yesterday (for July 5) or Jul 4 all the way back to Jan 1, and then for the previous year it is listed as 12/29/21. In the legacy app the Updated column is shown as Yesterday and anything 2 days old or more is shown in full date format, ex: 2022-07-04 17:35. I prefer the legacy view. I rechecked my Windows 10 system settings as this is a new'ish laptop and sure enough I have the "SHORT DATE" setting same as it used to be >> yyyy-mm-dd. Time is also set correctly for the Short format of 09:40 for 9:40 AM or 13:01 for 1:01 PM. I have my Win10 system using the recommended "Canadian" English and I have never set-up another language, such as French, and unlike so many previous Win10 installations I've done, I believe this laptop was originally Canadian English and not the usual default of "US English". I use the yyyy-mm-dd format extensively to look up all my notes from a specific date when tracking client interactions so this is a big issue for me to get fixed.
  23. This was an ongoing annoying issue for many of us in ver 8.x of the Android app. Is this also occuring in ver 10.x ?? Did anyone who had it in ver8.x then update to ver 10.x and no longer have the issue? the ver 8.x link >> https: //discussion.evernote.com/forums/topic/122634-note-upload-failed/ take out the spaces between https: and the // (the graphic of a post from that thread was misleading) .
  24. That's exactly what I've been doing. But then another note ends up being the problem note. I cannot see any pattern into why certain notes do this. They're not from the same folder, or have same tags, created within a period of time, or whether they are notes created on the phone vs the desktop. Most of my notes were created on the desktop. I've been holding off upgrading until this is resolved, or known to be not an issue in the latest version, just so I don't find myself in a worse issue than before.
