Canalugi 0
Hi everyone, straight to the question: can I add or create a tag directly in a note text or in its title? Maybe trough a symbol like @ or #? Link to comment
Level 5* JMichaelTX 4,117 Posted January 15, 2016 Level 5* Share Posted January 15, 2016 Straight Answer: Yes, but it will not be recognized as a tag. There is only one place to assign a Tag, in the Tags field of the Note. You can put a keyword that is the same as a tag name in the Title, and search on it using: intitle:keyword Evernote will not use special symbols for searching in the body or Title. So a search for @keyword wll find all instances of "keyword", with and without a prefix of "@". Link to comment

There's nothing to stop you, but I think a more accurate term is keyword Disadvantage; - The Evernote tags are a more precise list. - You will never have spelling variations. - When tagging, you get a list of possible choices. Advantage; - When typing a note, you don't interrupt your chain of thought. - When exporting your notes, your information is sure to be there I do an html export as part of my backup procedures but it doesn't show my tags; Correction - Tags are included in the HTML code as Meta Link to comment
_erikH 0
Hi everyone, it would however be particularly convenient. For instance, when sharing to EverNote from the Mac OS X extension menu, there is no way to add any tag, only to type text. Why not implement an auto recognition as in the "mail to evernote", "@" for the notebooks and "#" for the tags (or whatever symbol, if you want to distinguish from the other apps and services). For the moment, if you use this OS X sharing, you have to go back in Evernote afterwards and sort the notes that you created by this way. What a loss of time, it is actually the main obstacle preventing me to use Evernote professionally and to pay for premium. I really hope that a developper of Evernote will see this message and consider this suggestion, or at least explain this lack, which has kept me away from Evernote for a long time - although I tried it several times. Thanks - You're right, along with created and updated dates (sample below). Thats fantastic; it solves my problem with lost info in html exports. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/><meta name="exporter-version" content="Evernote Mac 6.6 Beta 3 (453258)"/><meta name="keywords" content="!Archive, !Journal"/> <meta name="created" content="2016-03-28 13:04:26 +0000"/> <meta name="updated" content="2016-03-28 13:04:27 +0000"/> <title>Journal-March 28, 2016 at 06:04AM</title> </head><body><div>March 28, 2016 at 06:04AM<br/> Today is: Sunny<br/> High: 53F (12C)<br/> Low: 42F (6C)<br/> Wind: 6 mph (10 kph) West<br/> Sunrise: March 28, 2016 at 06:57AM<br/> Sunset: March 28, 2016 at 07:38PM<br/> <br/> </div></body></html> Link to comment

You're welcome. Of course you can write a simple AppleScript or JXA script to read these meta tags from the HTML file. Link to comment
