64European 1 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Using notebooks intensively creates notebooks containing hundreds of notes. Ordering by title or data is not of great help. If you are a blogger or keep your diary, an index can help to get a quick overview and to access notes quickly. However, this needs some manual action to copy note links and to paste them into the index. This could be done automatically. One needs only to extract the title line, create the link information and then write it into the index note. I think that could be a very helpful gadget for users working with large notebooks.

64European 1 Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 Indeed, it is not that difficult to connect the index with a new note just be drag and drop. Things are different for the case you already have some hundreds of notes and want to save a few hours to get them clipped.
Level 5* CalS 5,311 Posted September 28, 2015 Level 5* Posted September 28, 2015 Not sure I fully understand the use case, but have you tried tags to group the notes?
64European 1 Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 I try to make it more evident: tags work fine, but don't allow to give explanations, comments etc. on a note. For instance, I collect material for my lectures in a notebook. Part of my index looks like: CancerSequential cancer mutations (CRISPR/Cas9) // Lecture 3Evolution: Cancer drivers everywhere? : Nature Reviews Genetics : Nature Publishing GroupGenomeWeb Daily News | GenomeWeb // Repeated Whole-Exome Sequencing of TumorCancer stem cells tracked : Nature News & CommentLit Cancer - Sequencing from Blood // biomarkersComplexity / simplicity - Weinberg 2014 // comment from Weinberg on the classical reviewThe microcosmos of cancer : Nature : Nature Publishing GroupCancer/CStem CellsExome sequencing identifies GRIN2A as frequently mutated in melanoma : Nature Genetics : Nature Publishing GroupMelanoma ExomeMutations in NOTCH2 Once the index is build, I can add, modify etc. the links to the notes. Adding is just as easy. But for the first step, creating the list is somewhat tedious.
Level 5* CalS 5,311 Posted September 28, 2015 Level 5* Posted September 28, 2015 Got it thanks. Could try the TOC solution and then drag the titles about within the note... Not optimal I am sure.
