tchaten 1 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I have noticed that OCR seems to be down currently. Both with new documents and old searchable PDFs (no longer searchable) any word on when this feature will return?
TheGurkha 1 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 As I understand it, once a document has been OCR'd, the extracted index data is sent back to your local app during some future Synch action. Even if the OCR function in the EN servers was down, I don't see how it could affect the searching of your already indexed documents.
engberg 89 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 That's correct ... your client should have all of your old OCR data already, so if you're not able to search within your client, it may be a client problem. Please provide full information about which version of our client you're using.
tchaten 1 Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 I think search may still be working but - save as searchable PDF is missing in the latest beta of the Mac client (it was present before the server upgrade)
engberg 89 Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 If you have scanned a document to PDF and then synchronized it to our servers, and if you have a Premium account, then we will use OCR to produce a searchable version on our servers. Then, you can later (e.g. a couple of hours later) synchronize from your client again to bring that down. Once the client has it, you should be able to right-click and see that "Save Searchable ..." menu item on the PDF. And you should be able to search within Evernote to find one of those notes.
