The problem is, I never attempted to send an email via evernote and I don't recognize that email address. Is this a security issue?

It could be.  You may want to  Submit Support Ticket  and report it as either a "Bug Report" or "Data Loss", either of which are available to all users, including Free accounts.

Hi MK--we are looking into this--have you had any success with the steps suggested by the members above? We've also sent some suggestions via ticket.

(I've also removed the recipient email address from the content you provided)

I looked at my access history but didn't find any attempt to access my account on the date the failed email notice was sent to me. The other times the account was accessed around that date all looked legitimate.
