ApplianceJunk 23
When I share a link to a .pdf file sometimes the EN page in the web browser shows a preview for the .pdf along with the download link and sometimes it just shows the download link for the .pdf file. At first I thought it was not showing previews for larger files, but that does not seem to be the case. What determines if a preview is shown with a shared file link? Link to comment

Level 5* GrumpyMonkey 4,316 Posted February 3, 2014 Level 5* Share Posted February 3, 2014 It should always show the entire pdf by default. This will be accompanied with a small thing that looks like an icon version of a pdf, but is actually a link of sorts to click on to open the pdf. Unfortunately, there is no way to change this. I recommend you avoid sharing notes with long pdfs or multiple ones, because they might be difficult to view. Link to comment
ApplianceJunk 23
Here is a example. I don't consider this a very long or large .pdf file, yet no preview. https://www.evernote.com/shard/s259/sh/357fb7bb-96dc-4628-9469-4023c1759600/807619e2908f9a56961ab81f5c4483b3 I recommend you avoid sharing notes with long pdfs or multiple ones, because they might be difficult to view.Does not seem like a very practical recommendation. There is still always the option to download it first and then view it. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 10,369 Posted February 3, 2014 Level 5* Share Posted February 3, 2014 1.7 MB may not be a large PDF, but it's a heck of a web page to try and download and display. In a similar context, and before it was (allegedly) possible to display the full PDF I used to have an 'executive summary' of the content in the note so the person I shared with could decide whether or not to download and open the PDF. There is still always the option to download it first and then view it. I stand corrected. Everything I put into the note is shown as an attachment. Here is a note with two PDFs in it (yours and mine). https://www.evernote.com/shard/s74/sh/32ff6669-e77b-427d-813a-c14800153b00/5324dc42c812791fd0217ac3bfbbf525 I cannot explain it. My complaint for a while now has been that PDFs just display with no way to control them. Now, it looks like they don't display, maybe with no way to control them I prefer this, though. My recommendation was based on my (outdated) experience with the app. Indeed, it wasn't practical, but it was necessary with a couple of PDFs a few hundred pages long, or something like that. ApplianceJunk 23
I have much larger .pdf files that I share such as complete service manual and they display just fine. Not a big deal, just trying to learn the logic behind why it behaves like it does. I did submit a support ticket asking too. Link to comment
