Here's an off-the-wall idea for Evernote:

What if EN integrated with all of the textbook companies (inkling, etc) to make the content of all of a student's textbooks searchable along with their EN notes? Then we could search our class notes AND textbooks, simultaneously!

That would truly be a game-changer.

If the textbook publisher makes the text available to Google search, then this can be done today.

The Evernote web clippers have an option to include your personal Evernote account in the documents being searched.

Actually, you can do a lot of this yourself: buy, scan, optical character recognition (OCR), extract text (if you want), and paste into a note (for details, see http://www.princeton.edu/~cmayo/paperless.html). Voila! All of your textbooks, reading notes, lecture notes, associated web information (assuming you are clipping it), etc. all available with one search
