No additional notes possible (with only one notebook, < 50 notes)

I couldn't add any notes, but I have got only 1 notebook and 39 notes.

Why I am not allowed to add a new note?

What to do?

First thing to try is emptying your Evernote Trash notebook.

I don't see a "trash notebook". I have the entry in the menu:

Notebooks
   - 'own notebook (39)'
   - NEW NOTEBOOK (to create a new one)

At the settings I also see under "Notebooks" -> standard notebook -> 'own notebook'

Do you have any further hints?

All Evernote accounts have a Trash. On the desktop apps it is at the bottom of the sidebar.
