Note Limit is borken

I got a message that tells me I have reached the 50 notes limit and must upgrade to create more notes. My current note number is 27 and it still won't let me create new notes.

Hi.  If you do not subscribe and can't create new notes, despite having less than 50 in total,  have you cleared out the Trash and do you otherwise have only one Notebook?

Thank you for your reply. I have deleted everything from the trash, but I still have a few notebooks. I tried moving the notes to a single notebook, so I can delete the rest, but when trying to move a note I get the same message about reaching the limit.

Try exporting the notes in the extra notebooks.  Then delete the extra notebooks from your account and then reimport the notes into your one remaining notebook.
