Cannot change email address

Recommended Posts

I used to login via Google, before then changing my email address to a different one (my work's email account).

Now I would like to change back to my Google email but cannot as it says it is already in use.

I also couldn't properly verify my current email because it was asking me to login via google even though I was no longer using Google anymore

Aswell as that, I even had a lot of difficulty accessing my profile / settings after logging into Evernote for Web (so as to change my email address) as it kept trying to log me out before I'd had chance to reach the settings page.

My work's email will be terminated in early Jan so, unless anyone is able to help me on here, I'll probably lose access to my Evernote account permanently

Hi.  When you are logged in this is the way to change the address - https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313338

If you're getting 'already in use' messages it means you have another account with Evernote using that address.  If you don't have any information about that account you'll need Support (which is not the Forums here) to look into it.   https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?guest=true - use the issue type "Account" (It may take some time for them to respond)

Your notes are never 'lost' - they're safe on the server until you can get your access back.

Hi! I am having a similar issue - my work email has been my primary email on my Evernote and I am leaving my job on Friday... I'd like to change my email to my personal email (Google email) but I also ran into an "already in use" message -- so I was able to get into my old account and I deactivated it (permanently) because I didn't have any notes in there and I was hoping that it would make that email available to make the transfer to... but now I am trying again and it still says that my Google email is "in use"... any ideas?! Want to make sure that once my work email is gotten rid of as of Friday that I can access all my notes.

Hi.  "Already in use" means there's already an account with that email address.  If you need access,  and still have access to that address,  the 'forgot password' link at Evernote.com may work for you.

As you use Gmail,  there's a trick you should be able to play to generate a 'new' address (as far as Evernote is concerned) - see https://lifehacker.com/your-gmail-account-has-unlimited-addresses-1849809691 for details.  Maybe use a "+Evernote" address (forinstance) as your 'new' login.

Thanks! I did get into my old account but then I deactivated it (permanent option) so that I could no longer have it "in use" but that seemingly didn't actually unlink it... so if I were to be able to get back into the gmail account, how can I get my notes moved over to that email address instead?

AFAIK when an email address has been used already, it can't be used a second time. I am not sure if there is a waiting period for unblocking old email addresses after a while, but in general you need a new address if the old one already was connected with an account.

The trick is to re-activate your account,  change the email address there to anything else,  and then you can re-use it.

The address trick I mentioned above also works for gmail addresses...

i also have a problem with my email address and evernote account.   the active evernote email address on file, May 2014,(Its a domain ending with .info)  is not an active email any longer and I cant reset it to be able to change it.   I can use the evernote account but want it to be changed to my gmail account.

I tried to add a gmail address to the account but when I do so it shows no activity at all  ( I want to simply take all history of my original email and change it to my active gmail account having all history accessible in the gmail account.      Problem is that the gmail account I added is now active with nothing in it and my orignial evernote email, active since May 2014, is able to be used on my phone but not on any url website since I can't remember the password and can't reset it becuase it will go to a gmail account with domain named. info and it cant be reset.

What am I to do and how can I fix this?
