Can’t setup 2FA with authy

Recommended Posts

Whenever I try to setup 2FA I don’t get the QR setup option but only manually typing/pasting a key. After pasting & typing the key into a new account option on Authy and I try to put in the 6 digit code but it says incorrect code everytime

This is correct, as you cannot scan a QR code on the same device where you're displaying it.

But obviously pasting & typing the key should work. I'll report back when I discover more.

This is the exact same issue I had. The way I resolved it - use another device to set up the 2fa - an iPad or a laptop. Do the set up on that, scan the qr code it generates with your phones chosen Authenticator- will work first time. I don’t think those codes generated on the phone system are working correctly.
