(Archived) 2.0 beta 1 won't show main window

Idea

I've been running 2.0 b1 happily for some time, but suddenly tonight something has gone awry. I'm not getting a main window at all on starting up, nor if I explicitly try File -> New Evernote Window. All that appears is the menu bar. If I try to create a new note, I get a blank evernote Window with just a toolbar.

Looking through the log, the only unusual thing I can see is the following lines:

2010-12-20 21:59:24 0xa124f0 [ENAppController] ERROR: EXCEPTION: *** -[NSCFArray initWithObjects:count:]: attempt to insert nil object at objects[0]
2010-12-20 21:59:24 0xa124f0 [ENAppController] ERROR: 0x95bbbd24 0x95e37509 0x951af4cf 0x951d6aa3 0x91db1d88 0xdccc6 0xdac97 0x91d64f38 0x91d68864 0x98c868ba 0x98c864e5 0x98e486ee 0x91d6d714 0x91d6d1b3 0x91d519ea 0xdaa92 0x1cf3b5 0x1cfb3f 0x98c5326c 0x98d0d76a 0x98d0d4c0 0x98d0c939 0x98c7772d 0x1afee4 0x98c5326c 0x98d0d76a 0x98d0d4c0 0x98d0c939 0x98c7772d 0xc3a1e 0xc3e09 0x98c5326c 0x98c511f4 0x98c505ed 0x98c504fe 0x98ce01e7 0x98c76f76 0x98edbf88 0xb1bc3 0xba9b2 0xb3167 0xbc708 0x91d5a4df 0x951be793 0x951be19a 0x91d4f384 0x91d5c789 0x98cc3422 0x98cc3332 0x98e1a4ed 0x98e1a10d 0x91d8f7a4 0x91d8f568 0x98024f58 0x98024e57 0x98024d61 0x936ea323 0x98c939ca 0x98c92fce 0x98c55247 0x98c4d2d9

The problem has survived a couple of reboots.

Presumably I'm going to have to remove some or all of my Application Support/Evernote stuff?

We've released the full version 2.0:

I'd recommend that you try uninstalling the beta (Quit from the elephant icon in the menu bar first). Then download and install the full release.

If you're still having problems, we may need to help you rebuild your local database by moving away the Evernote directory.

Right, I've tried that, firstly just uninstalling the beta and installing the newest release. That resulted in the same blank window. So I shut down Evernote and the helper, moved ~/Library/Application Support/Evernote aside, started Evernote up again and waited for a longish new initial sync. That seemed OK up to a point, but the 'sync finished' dialog only had a 'cancel' button which seemed odd. Still a blank Evernote window at this stage. I then tried quitting Evernote and starting it up again, and was faced with the original problem again (no Evernote main window).

I didn't originally open a support ticket because I was running the beta. Should I do so now or do you just want to continue here?

( Aside: frustrating though this is, it makes me appreciate Evernote's platform breadth all the more. I have a no-doubt-temporarily broken local client, but can still get at some notes I really need this morning via the web app and iPad. )

I don't know if this is related. I'm having issues with 2.0 (full release) not taking focus (which may also be messing with dialog boxes from applescripts also not taking focus). I have had private correspondence with another user with this problem.

Well, my problem (which persisted into a 2.0 full release installation) was fixed by deleting my Evernote prefs, on a suggestion from Dave Engberg. That would be a bit of a drastic step for your issue though, which sounds minor on the face of it. If you're confident you know where all the relevant plist files are, you could always back them up and try it.
