Strange internal message during update process - "windows 7 and above is required"

When I did an internal to Evernote upgrade to 10.55.2 the process froze with the message "Windows 7 and Above is Required".  This has happened a few times during the upgrade process.

Its a windows 10 operating system, uptodate.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening, what could be missing from the specific PC that causes this error message ?

To correct this I simply downloaded the application file from the evernote site.

Hi.  Strange things occasionally happen.  AFAIK this hasn't happened before.  Without a detailed autopsy on your software and device I doubt anyone could make a guess.  If Evernote is up and running again,  just chalk it up to experience...

A wrong registry value setting is not unheard of, when I go mentally back to my Windows days. Maybe run a registry checker to find these hidden traps.
