Note failed to update There's been an error syncing your note. Please reload to resume editing (Apple Silicon)

Recommended Posts

I get this message "Note failed to update There's been an error syncing your note. Please reload to resume editing" when trying to edit larger notes from MacOS Monterrey on a 2021 MBP.   Is this a known problem with Apple Silicon Macs?

I am using the web interface because EN on Apple Silicon is unusable.  There is Titling problem so that was the last straw for me using the App.  Electron is bloated pig, who made the decision to use this framework?    It also use a lot of CPU so battery drains faster.   Evernote, get your act in order!   I am long time user and I was happy with the new app progress until now.

I am getting the error suddenly out of nowhere on Macbook iOS Monterey.

"There's been an error syncing your note. Please reload to resume editing"

I can't type anything on any notes, I can't even duplicate a note. I haven't updated Mac iOS or Evernote in weeks, and I use it every day. It just started this afternoon out of nowhere. please help.

Using Apple Silicon MacBook?   And in the meantime use the WEB UI.

I use the Thunderbird Email client on my 2018 Mac Mini and 2021 MBP14.  How can a non-profit compile its app on Apple Silicon but not Evernote.  Firefox is also native on Apple Silicon.  These are not trivial applications.  The leadership of EN needs to contemplate what went wrong and maybe contact Thunderbird techs to learn their magic.

EN and Thunderbird work on a completely different technical platform. No magic included or needed, but using what works for one is no fix for the other. Contemplation sessions by management may help, at least it keeps them away from interfering with the devs.

It is pretty clear what EN needs to do to support the M1 platform natively.

It is not so clear when they will implement it.

Yes, as my previous posts states someone made a bad decision to pick Electron.   Open Source Lazarus IDE (a pascal clone then more for Borland Delphi) is even native on M1.   BTW Lazarus is Write Once Compile Anywhere.

What is your statement ? Roll back 3 years of app development done based on Electron, start anew with the next "clever" choice ? I am pretty sure there is a ton of choices for M1 - if you start today, with a blank sheet.

EN currently is based on the last Electron release not supporting the M1. They need to update the underlying framework - no idea when this will happen, but from then on the M1 will be supported. No need to skip Electron, just a need to update.

Since it means updating ALL clients, I am pretty sure EN will take its time, to make a proper QA before they move.
