Problem Printing or Saving PDF with Mac

Recommended Posts

Currently have version 10.18.3 for Mac.  Big Sur 11.4.  Started using Evernote back in 2013.  Currently have approximately 5000 notes.  Never had any particular issues.  I print a note periodically, more often I save a note to PDF from where I attach it to an email to a 3rd party.  Quite a few notes are multipage notes.  I retired a couple of years ago, but I've continue with Evernote because I have personal notes saved, along with old business notes which I still reference for taxes etc.  The problem is that I can no longer print a multipage note, and I can no longer save a multi page note to PDF from the print function.  I'm guessing I can no longer export all my notes in their entirety (meaning all pages) to a different app.

I'm frustrated.  I've tried to read through the discussion forums, and did discover in one topic that I could use a legacy version of Evernote.  I downloaded that and it worked fine, just like it always used to.  That doesn't look like it's a permanent solution if I read Evernote comments correctly.  Apparently they are impressed with software that can't print an entire note.

It appears that some of this may be due to how Evernote stores the multipage note now.  Instead of being able to scroll down through all the pages, I now have to hit >> at the bottom.of the page.  So when I print I get the first page.  At that I may only get part of the page.  And it appears that those who had a problem did note get a resolution from Evernote.

My solution is to quit Evernote after all these years, unless someone can direct me to a solution.  I damn sure won't be giving them more money for software that doesn't work.  What I do about all my stored notes once they get rid of the ability to use the Legacy version, I don't know.

Does anyone have any solution?  Does anyone from Evernote ever read these problems and act on them?

I'm on a Mac (running Catalina) and version 10. I can print a multi-page note and save as PDF and I can also export a multi-page note to PDF.

But.. what do you mean by multi-page note. Are you just talking about a very long note that requires more than one page when printed, or is there some other kind of note that I'm just not aware of?

Thanks for your reply. By multi page I mean a very long note that takes more than one page to print.

I also have a Mac running Catalina 10.15.7. I have the same problem. I just tried to print a 15 page document. What printed is the first page, in two pages.  The top half on page 1, the bottom half on page 2.  Left out are all the other pages.  This is with my Mac running Catalina.

Btw, I’m only running Catalina because my Mac is a 2013 IMac which can be upgraded.  I think Big Sur has been available since the start of the year.

Yes, I'm aware of that.  I have a MacBook Pro with Big Sur.  It doesn't print.  I have an older iMac with Catalina, it doesn't print either.  Both will use the legacy version of Evernote, but if you read some of Evernote's commentary about the legacy version, apparently it isn't going to be available at some point.  Evernote feels that the new version has many advantages, everything except printing!  So either Evernote needs to fix this, or I need to figure out a way to get my notes out of Evernote. I don't know how Evernote can offer software that doesn't do some of the very basic functions!

Legacy is available now, so I use it.

If I worry about tomorrow, next week, next year, I don‘t get anything done where it counts - today.

If I want a nice printout, I know what to do. I start legacy (one of the few things for which I still use it), start the printing job. I can assure you, it will not stop in the middle of the 3rd page just because EN decided in THAT moment to pull the plug.

Better printing will be added to v10, whenever. EN is releasing 1 version every 4 weeks. I am sure they have still a lot of stuff on their backlog, working it down. Printing is among it, no surprise there.

But what I'm saying is that I'm running v10 on Mac and I *don't* have this problem. I can print a long note and it generates as a multi-page PDF just fine.

So I'm just saying that it sounds like a bug in your case and that v10 is not supposed to work that way.
