So frustrated. Note preview is blank! Where did it go???

I'm a pretty basic, unsophisticated user, but I'm usually able to figure things out. I'm pretty sure I'm updated to whatever the latest and greatest is, but....  everything is coming up blank for me. I can't figure out what to do/
I would share what the latest version is that I have, but I can't find that....
"About Evernote" is a blank pop up
"Release Notes" is a blank pop up

I want to SEE some notes I've saved... see them on my laptop... but there's no note preview. The right hand pane is blank.  I tried to print the note (I thot maybe it was there but just not showing)... Nope, it printed a blank sheet of paper with a single line across the top (I could have saved the paper, but it seems print preview is gone along with my note??)

I've tried EVERYTHING. I absolutely can NOT see my notes. The list is there on the left, the center pane is there, the right hand pane is BLANK.  I was trying to access some medical information I have saved... but it's invisible???

I finally did discover that I can use my phone to see the info... thank goodness. But really???  Seriously???  WHAT is going on??

You might find this thread useful. Often doing the following sorts it out:

  • Close EN
  • Close EN from the elephant icon in the system tray as well
  • Open task manager (alt-ctrl-del) and manually close any instances of EN that are still there
  • Reopen EN

Thank you so much Mike for offering some help.  I have to say I find it particularly disturbing that the thread you referred me to was about users experiencing the exact same issue.... from nearly 5 months ago??!!??  but the "fix" from Evernote is still a workaround? I mean... Close EN... stop processes in Task Manager??  Seriously??? Jeepers...

You know, even tho I've been a user for years I'd never before had a need to post in the forum for help with something (and I'm for sure too basic a user to ever have anything meaningful to contribute). Only to find because it was my first post it had to be "reviewed" before it was posted?  I found it extremely frustrating as a PAID user to come to the forum for help only to find myself muzzled. That's just wrong. 

So while I was WAITING for my request for help to be approved and posted.... I spent ALOT of time on the forum hoping to discover something about my problem (I never did run across that thread you shared... 😕). I also spent some time reading the thread about hating the new cloud based EN and was thrilled to discover I could download the Legacy version... which I did. What a relief! Anyways.... what finally worked for me was to simply shut down all programs and completely restart my computer.

However,  this whole experience has left me with a VERY uncomfortable feeling about the stability of a program I've used for years without ever before having any issues (and also a little angry about being moderated even tho I'm a paid user). So I'm considering looking for an alternative... Sad, you know??

No need to go to the task manager. Simply completely close the EN application (Strg / ctrl / cmd - q, depending on your OS).

Not what we expect from any software, but small coin to pay to go back to a working setup.

Personally I think there are internal processes that are not properly terminated when they did their job. These build up, leading to high CPU and RAM usage. Probably it has to do with the underlying framework, some we all have to wait and see when it gets fixed.

IMHO for all power users currently a mix of legacy and v10 (which in fact has some nice features) does the best job.
