upnix 36
The search I want to do is: someterm AND (tag:A OR tag:B) As in, "I want all the notes with tag 'A' or 'B', which contain the term "someterm". So I looked through this page: https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/search_grammar.php And it looked like "any:" was going to do it. I tried: any: tag:A tag:B And that brought back notes that had either of those tags, great! But whether "someterm" is in the front or back of that, I wasn't getting the results I wanted. Can someone tell me the correct way to perform this search? I was doing this on "Evernote Legacy," so I'm not sure if the search syntax will be different on the new client. Thanks! Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,115 Posted January 5, 2021 Level 5 Share Posted January 5, 2021 Probably you have seen this as well ? https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313828 In general search in EN is not fully boolean. Sometimes you can mimick it, but in other cases you simply can’t make it work. This is because the idea of searching in EN is not to deliver an exact search result, but a fuzzy answer that has a better likelihood to contain what you search even if the search is not 100% to the point. Strict Boolean search would then show nothing, EN search will give you a result from which to choose the right note manually. In your example, if ANY does not work, I would use 2 searches one after the other, probably place a quick tag on all notes found, and then use this tag as search parameter if I need them all in one search. Not really RegEx-ed, but before I trouble myself with search esoteric, it produces the result needed. 1 Link to comment
