bounce 74
I used to have hundreds of notes I'd invoke by voice and now that isn't possible. This should have been in the release notes. Does cross platform parity mean these OS specific features won't be coming back? 1 1 1 Link to comment
0 oscarp70 3
Has anyone found a workaround to add a note by Siri? 1 1 Link to comment
0 Jimmy BOY 3
WHY isn't this working anymore??? Very frustrating. I wouldn't have upgraded if I would have realized this. I used Siri with Evernote constantly when driving and now I can't. 2 1 2 Link to comment
0 oscarp70 3
I know it’s very frustrating. That and the long press to quickly add a note Is my biggest gripe. Siri integration should be a no brainer. I’m hoping it will be added quickly. I’m a productivity nut and always looking to cut down the steps needed to add a note. If anyone comes up with a workaround let me know. For now I’m planning on using Siri to create notes in iOS, then adding them into Evernote when I’m at my desk. Not optimal but at least I can Add a note when I’m on the go. 1 1 Link to comment
0 mhead110 0
I use speech to text when possible because of a disability-- Mac catalina seems to work in most mac apps, but not evernote. and it usually works in chrome, but NOT in this window!! Link to comment

0 Level 5 PinkElephant 8,785 Posted February 28, 2021 Level 5 Share Posted February 28, 2021 Personally I switched to „JustPressRecord“ for audio recording and transcription. Works on Apple Watch, iOS devices and the Mac. What I like is that you can decide to keep the audio together with the transcript, or delete it and only keep the much smaller text file. It imports into EN by sharing. Anyhow I hope EN brings audio back to it’s own app, and a Watch App as well. This would shorten my workflows around audio note taking. Especially the annihilation of the Watch App was a nasty surprise related to v10. Link to comment
0 oscarp70 3
Can you clarify the imports to EN by sharing? There is no trial version for JustPressRecord and before I make the purchase I'd like to see the steps. I know it would be an added step, but this may be the work around until the DEV finally brings back the Siri Integration. Link to comment
0 Level 5 PinkElephant 8,785 Posted March 1, 2021 Level 5 Share Posted March 1, 2021 Open the app, press „record“. Can be on the iPhone, iPad or (best of all) the watch. Say what you have to say. After a second the audio shows in the app. For the next steps use an iPhone or iPad, the watch alone will not do. You can now play it back, or directly hit the Text symbol to start the transcription. It replays and you can watch the letters grow. Now hit share. You are offered to share the audio, the text, both or a video clip. Select what you like, then select EN from the app selection. The EN iOS import window shows. It uses the first line of text as title. Choose notebook, apply tags, hit save. When you open EN, the import starts, creating a new note. The note contains the transcript as text body, and a m4a-file with the audio. If you just pick text or audio, the other part will be missing. Done. You can keep the audio files as well in JPR, or delete them there. Link to comment
0 Maciek Tomica 1
simple workaround: add your evernote email address to contacts and ask siri to send an email to this address. It will show up as a new note 1 Link to comment
0 oscarp70 3
I tip my hat off to you for the cool work around! Just set it up and it works like a charm. The only downside is Siri repeats the e-mail and then asks you if you are ready to send. Not a big deal because if I recall correctly, when Siri integration was available, it would repeat the note. At least this method is truly hands off. I've been using the Just Press Record hack which I found really useful for other items as well. Any idea when Siri integration is slated to be functional again? Link to comment
0 Level 5 PinkElephant 8,785 Posted July 17, 2021 Level 5 Share Posted July 17, 2021 EN has commented that the Apple Watch App will return (no date, just the fact). When this happens, Siri will return as well, because it is the main way of input on the Watch. Maybe Siri will be back earlier … 1 Link to comment
0 mjadams 1
Is there an update on this? Anyone know where a Feature/Enahancement Roadmap might be hosted by EN? Link to comment
0 Level 5 PinkElephant 8,785 Posted August 25, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted August 25, 2022 You cross the drawbridge, and the ironclad gate. Now you are in the outer encirclement, under the watchful eyes of the longbow archers. You reach the inner gate, from massive oak bars. You walk through and turn left. Now climb up to the hill, up the steep staircase, through the small, massive door of the main tower into the round entrance room. A hidden door in the floor leads to a flight of ladders, you climb down, passing the storage rooms and the prison cells. There, on the lowest level of the dungeon a 3 headed enormous dog is guarding a massive safe. In it the scripture named „THE roadmap“is hidden. And then you realize you have forgotten the sausage to calm the beast …. and wake up … No, EN does not comment nor publish their plans for future development. There are 2 features that will come, because they slipped into the last updates, but were not official/working : On mobile (and maybe desktop) expect that 2 brackets () followed by some text will create a new task in that note. And on Windows (and maybe on desktop in general) there will be an option in settings to make the EN client start at logging into the Windows user. But these were accidents, not announcements. The one big thing announced for this year is an overhaul of the whole syncing logic. From what we hear they are working on it, but it proves itself to be quite a challenge. I am not sure we will see a rollout still in this year. And when they are on such a core project, probably everything else will be delayed. Link to comment
0 Wilproc 0
Lack of Siri integration is such a gaping hole in Evernote right now. Capturing notes hands-free while running, cycling, driving, doing all those other things when ideas naturally occur and you can't be poking at a screeen is so important for me that I bodge the integration using IFTTT to capture easily in Apple reminders/notes then send across to Evernote. It's a brittle system, though, and what stops me from having full confidence in using Evernote. It seems that what made Evernote great in the past (easy capture) is slowly eroding. Link to comment
0 Level 5 PinkElephant 8,785 Posted October 27, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted October 27, 2022 EN is rolling out features for all OS platforms it supports. A result is a lack in support for platform specific features. Personally I use JustPressRecord on all devices to grab ideas, have them transcribed and then shared into EN. If ideal integration is what you want, use Apple Notes and Reminders. Link to comment
0 Wilproc 0
Thanks for the update. I guess my main gripe isn't the lack of integration, it's more that fast capture doesn't seem to be a priority for Evernote any more. No audio transcribe like Day One / JustPressRecord, no more location, scan function is buggy and not as good as things like adobe scan. Maybe as you've suggested, and as I've bodged in my own roundabout way, it's better to have specialist apps for capture and rely on Evernote as just a repository/filing cabinet. Link to comment
0 Level 5 PinkElephant 8,785 Posted October 27, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted October 27, 2022 I think it is more that basic design decision to use frameworks as embedding nest in which the app is running. To reach the app, any action needs to tunnel through the framework layer. And these tunnels are either explicitly coded, or they don’t exist. I don’t think they want to make specific actions difficult to perform, it is a side effect of the embedding. Just my 5ct … Link to comment
