I will uninstall, then reinstall, but want to purge the local database first.  Can someone tell me where the database can be found? I originally installed Evernote from the Apple Appstore.

You can find your database location by launching EvernoteScreen Shot 2016-09-25 at 8.28.20 AM copy.png
Click on Evernote > About Evernote and press the Option key
A link will appear for your database folder

Thanks, I found it, deleted the folder, uninstalled Evernote, restarted, reinstalled Evernote, but the notes are notes are still not synced with the web notes.  I do think that Evernote lunched with the notes visible, very quickly, seems like a sync is not happening at all.

Any other suggestions?

Did you sign-on with the correct username - that triggers the sync

Pressing option doesn't seem to work anymore.

Those were instructions for an older version
Which version #  are you using?
