Why can't you choose any notebook for new note creation from top?

When you want to create a new note you can do so from the top only if it is in the same folder or a recent folder.  Otherwise you have to go down the side open the folder you want then go back to the top to open a new note.

 

So Why not have all the folders in the drop down at the top?  By all means have recent folders first but then have the rest.  This would save time - which is surely what Evernote is all about.

You can do this--there is a notebook dropdown in your note panel. Create a new note, then while editing select which notebook you want it to be in before you're finished with editing / navigate away from the note.

It really helps if you mention which Evernote client you are using.

Good point   I was talking about Evernote for Mac V6.0.5.

Am happy with method within iOS version 7.6.4
