  1. gbarry's post in Evernote for Mac is now optimized for M1 / Apple Silicon was marked as the answer
Hello everyone! Wanted to note that our latest release of Mac (10.32.4) is now optimized for M1 / Apple Silicon.
It is a Universal Binary--so running this version on your M1 device should automatically run using the correct architecture. Please let us know if the optimization improves your experience with Evernote (we have seen internal evidence that it increases speeds on M1 devices that had previously reported issues--particularly with start up time) or if you see any new or unexpected issues crop up that you weren't seeing on a previous version of Evernote for Mac.
  2. gbarry's post in Edit encrypted text was marked as the answer
Hi everyone--improvements to encryption are now available on 10.24. You can now reveal and edit an encrypted block of text without permanently decrypting it first. You can open up the encrypted block, make edits, and also find in note to locate content within the encrypted block before closing. The text will be re-encrypted as soon as you navigate to a different note.

  6. gbarry's post in [Feature Released in Version 10.16] Restore Import Folders was marked as the answer
    Hello everyone---
Reaching out here in this thread to note that we’ve released a new version of Evernote (10.16) that contains the import folder feature. It’s located in a slightly new location on Windows --under “Tools > Preferences”, where it used to be located directly under the Tools menu.
This version of import folder closely aligns with how the Windows version used to work, with some enhancements to both import logic (we have a few more protections in place for accidentally importing partially created files, that kind of thing) as well as additional UI that will indicate if you’re about to import a lot of files at once that could eat through a potentially limited upload limit. We’ve also made some improvements to notifications--grouping notifications for larger imports, as well as transparently notifying when we are creating a new note after you edit a retained file.
A note on “remove at import”
There’s one option that is still in progress here, and that’s the “Remove file” option after import. This option allowed files to be automatically removed after they were imported. We intend to reintroduce after working through some changes on the backend to properly support the option, and opted to get the feature into your hands without so you can begin working with it.
A note on using import folders on Evernote 10 and Evernote Legacy
If both Evernote Legacy and Evernote 10 are pointed to import from the same folder, both will attempt to import the file. In most cases, this will set up a race condition between both versions, with one application importing before the other one. Since they are built using similar logic, only one file should be imported. You will know which is successful because the notifications for Evernote Legacy Windows and Evernote 10 are different. If you are pointing to the same Evernote account, the file will eventually end up in your account either way.
In general, we don’t recommend that both are run side by side. Ideally, any import folders that are previously set up on Evernote Legacy should be removed and re-added on Evernote 10.
This is our initial release supporting import folder and have some ideas on where we could take it in the future. Please let us know what you think--particularly if you run into any issues setting up your new import folders.
  7. gbarry's post in Evernote for Mac 10.8 was marked as the answer
For now, global keyboard shortcut editing is a little different in Evernote 10 than in Evernote Legacy. In version 10.8, you can double click or hover over a shortcut to access a three dot menu that lets you edit, revert, or disable completely the associated shortcut. Simply slide out the keyboard shortcuts reference menu--accessible via the Help Dropdown or using the shortcut Ctrl+ / (Windows) CMD + / (Mac).
Wow, that is a very large GIF.

  8. gbarry's post in Evernote for Windows 10.2 is here was marked as the answer
Today we are releasing Evernote for Windows 10.2 (v 10.2.4 build 1949). This release contains some major architectural changes to help us release future features, in addition to adding system tray clipping functionality.
It is available now from the Windows Store, or as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action.
    New to Win 10.2 -
Write quick notes and clip screenshots with the Evernote Helper companion app. (Right-click the Evernote icon in your system tray.) Internal links can now be independently copied as either evernote:/// (app links) or www.evernote.com (web links) F2 keyboard shortcut should now edit note title "New note" option added to notebook menu Improvements when using drag and drop to merge notes After restarting the app, Evernote now reopens the same notes and windows that were selected when the app was closed Fixed highlights:
Imported notes now retain their create and updated dates when importing them into Evernote Visual improvements to in-app pop-ups Print note bug fixes related to page breaks (still more work to do here) Importing non-enex files will no longer create a new notebook Coming soon:
Quickly search and move to different note using a keyboard shortcut (Mac - CMD+J, Windows - Ctrl+Q) Create new audio recordings and playback audio files Top list view (the same condensed view as side-list, but the list is on top) Dragging and dropping note links directly into your note
Let us know what you think and we appreciate the continued feedback. We know we have a lot of work to do and will keep pushing. Thank you!

  10. gbarry's post in EN 10.1 keeps opening in the Shared With Me window rather than last used was marked as the answer
Thanks for the flag @agsteele--that is unexpected, I've asked the team to look into it and we'll resolve.
  11. gbarry's post in Where is edit/delete with tables? was marked as the answer
We're regularly improving the web beta experience so I expect table functionality to improve with time. There's no delete/editing options currently within tables on web beta.
