The update is not needed for the regular Mac version, so you are fine. There is a link posted somewhere in the forums to the non-app store version (no link to the download on the regular site). But, you can just set your current app to check for updates (in Preferences). Link to comment

However, the Mac store version in its current state (hobbled by apple's rules) is not very enticing to me. Hopefully, Apple will refine their policies, or Evernote will find workarounds before moving completely to the app store version. Link to comment
