MERGING Notes . . . Can't See All Notes in Merged File

I am NEW to Evernote, but am attempting to MERGE multiple notes. And I understand it should all put them together when I open the note, all the merged notes should also be in there . . . but unfortunately its only keeping the 1st note and the rest at getting sent to the TRASH.

I'm perplexed as to what I may be doing wrong. We have SO many files and I am trying to learn and get this all cleaned up . . . so please be patient with me and the learning curve!

Merging works for me on my Mac

I select the notes to merge and the notes get merged into one note; same title as the first note
Each note is prefixed by a banner

After merging, the old notes are sent to the Trash.  They can be restored if needed

Please supply your application information: client type (native Windows, Mac, web, etc..) and version number.

it is a Windows application. the chat people can't seem to figure it out either.

I do this, and know it SHOULD lump them all in the same note with the name of the first document. but when I do it, it only gives me that 1 document and all the others are moved to the trash, not lumped in the note and then put in the trash?

the tech dept is trying to help but have not been successful
