Actually, I'm surprised at the similarities in offered features between Evernote and NoteJoy. They also offer Nested Netbooks and Nested Tags, which Evernote hasn't gotten around to providing, though I know these features have been requested. On the minus side, I noticed that their web clipper only works with Chrome and FireFox, which would complicate my life, given that I use Safari as it works best under macOS.

You're right. I meant, that NoteJoy provides a tool to import one's data from Evernote and a bunch of other apps.

I haven’t used a Windows PC in five years, since I retired. Before that, I had no choice because all the software we had to use in our digital forensic examination practice, ran under Windows. That experience cured me from ever wanting to use another Windows PC or any MS software. I have been using MACs, iPhones, and iPads, since the first iPhone came out, and I couldn’t wait to drop using Windows and MS apps. With Apple devices the macOS and Office-like apps are all free. 

On this or another thread I read about NoteJoy.com. At first glance they seem to be compatible with Evernote and apparently offer some of the same features found in Evernote. And the monthly subscription are only $4 for the solo plan, $8 for the Plus plan, and $12 for the Premium plan.

OneNote is a non-starter for me as I’m on  Apple and despise M$ products from all the years I was forced to use Windows because of work requirements.

Like you seem to use Evernote, I basically use it to organize my life. I have accumulated thousands of notes over the 15 years I’ve been using it. Until now, Evernote has met all my needs and I’m concerned about switching to another similar application, learning a new UI, and perhaps finding out later that the new app has some shortcomings and won’t work out for my needs. Decisions, decisions, decisions…

I don't think that anyone asked for a personal explanation, but a general announcement would have been nice, before they started sending out notifications about the price of subscriptions going up.

I'm in the same boat. I use Evernote for just about everything and couldn't survive otherwise. At $70 a year for the Pro subscription it was a good value--I'm not sure I'd say the same about the jump to $170 a year... 

But like I said, my biggest concern is what will happen if a large percentage of their subscriber base decides to jump ship...

I'm more concerned what will happen to Evernote if they lose 30 to 40% of their subscribers overnight, due to the huge jump in their subscription fees... 

I wonder how may subscribers will decide to cancel their subscriptions given that the annual cost are being increased by more than $100 over and above what we were paying previously. My Pro subscription cost me $70 last year but will jump to $170 next year. 

A more important concern is if too many subscriber call it quits will Evernote survive? I dread to think what they'll have to increase the annual subscription cost in following years if they lose a major portion of their subscription base. 

It's one thing to introduce price increases gradually, but to tack on $100 to the current subscription cost sounds excessive to me. And I venture to say that most of us can probably do without the promised improvements. 

I've been a paid subscriber for more than 15 years, but this latest announcment doesn't give me warm and fuzzy feelings about the new ownership. Perhaps it's time to start exploring alternatives...

Regardless, it wasn't like they were giving Evernote away for free. I paid $70 a year for a Pro subscription. That isn't chump change. 

To now add another $100 is crazy and bring the subscription price to $170 a year is crazy. Most subscription based apps are reducing their annual charges and very few charge more than $100 per year. I don't think that Evernote gives me enough value at more than $100. Promises of introducing AI are of no interest to me (and I bet to a number of other subscribers). Heck, they haven't even added the most requested feature, that is support for Apple calendars. 

I've been a paid subscriber since 2008. I'm having a hard justifying this price increase, but they've got me over a barrel as Evernote is the one app I use the most... 🤬

True, but at least Apple makes available step-by-step instructions on how to move the Photo Library. I wish other apps would provide this information as well. 

Frankly, I never experienced Aperture filling up the start-up drive, but this was long before SSDs becoming widely available, so getting a one or two TB HDD on a Mac wasn't as expensive as it's currently with their SSDs.

With the newer Macs better avoid the smallest SSDs - they only have half the speed of the larger ones. You probably won’t notice it on regular file operations, but you will notice it if MacOS starts swapping when it is running out of RAM.

Since in the Mini I think the smallest of the fast breed SSDs is the 512GB, it should have no problem to host the EN database.

True, one should avoid the 256 GB SSD, as it's very slow, comparatively. The M2 MacMini comes with a 256 GB SSD unless you upgrade it. But you're right, the M2 Pro comes with a minimum of 512 GB SSD and that's the one I got. The M2 Pro, comes with four Thunderbolt/USC-C ports, whereas the M2 only comes with two ports, which wouldn't work for me.

Thanks. But the Evernote folder was added on 1/31/23, which I'm pretty sure was the first day I set up the MacMini and of course, Evernote was one of the first apps I installed. Obviously, these files were abandoned as Evernote has not deleted them in days.

With Apple making their internal SSDs small and very expensive to upgrade, you'd think that every app that stores large amounts of data locally, would have a method for easily relocating their files to an external SSD. So far, I've only found specific instructions for relocating the Apple Photos library...

Look what I accidentally found in the Downloads folder: a hidden Evernote folder that contains a number of subfolders which include some file attachments to Notes. The total space take by these hidden folders is about 11 MBs, not much, but still concerning if Evernote is storing stuff all over the drive in hidden folders. I see no reason for Evernote storing a hidden folder in the Downloads folder--am I missing something? 

I've sent a message to Tech Support about this, but I've been using Evernote since Jan 2008  and I haven't been very impressed with their Tech Support. I'll let you know if I get any response from them. 

Here's the file structure under the hidden folder (I've only expended one of the subfolders to show the PDF attachment, but each of the suborders labeled "external-edits" contain a subfolder that includes the file attachment--see highlighted lines):

I think you misunderstood when I said that the Evernote folder is not at: 
/Users/myuser/Library/Application Support/Evernote

I meant it's NOT there. I use PathFinder from Cocoa Tech, and at a click of a button I can reveal hidden files and folders. A folder named Evernote does not exist at that path. 

As I mentioned previously, I did locate an Evernote data folder at:
/Users/user/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data

And this folder contains a bunch of subfolders, like
/Users/User/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data/Library
which in turn contains many subfolders. The Library folder contains a total of 8.5 GB of data, most of which is found in an subfolder named "Application Support". 

The folder at the following path, appears to contain all the Evernote data:
/Users/User/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data/Library/Application Support/Evernote

So it seems to me that things have changed and the folders and files have been relocated. Doesn't Evernote provide any documentation for this information? I can move this Evernote folder and then place an Alias there pointing to the folder that I moved it to, but there are so many other items related to Evernote in this and other folders, I'm concerned I'm going to mess things up. 

I suppose I should contact TechSupport and see what they have to say, though I suspect that their first tier support will not have that information available. Thanks again for your assistance.

How can I move the Evernote Database to an external drive? I'm on a Mac running macOS v 13.2 (Ventura). 

Sometimes, when I forward emails to my Evernote account, they end up missing completely or are seriously delayed by hours. I've noticed this on a several occasions lately. Am I the only one having this problem?

For operations like merging, tagging or moving several notes, use the desktop client. Web has some abilities as well, I am just not sure about the web’s features in every detail.

On the iPad the web client works IMHO pretty well.

Thanks for the feedback. I was afraid that only one not can be selected at a time on mobile platforms as I had pretty much exhausted all possibilities. The problem is that sometimes I don't have access to my laptop or desktop for days and by then, I forget the notes that I wanted merged. Oh well, ... 

I'll have to try the web client on the iPad. Thanks. 

Has anyone figured a way to select two or more notes in iOS or iPadOS in order to merge them (or select and delete multiple Notes for that matter)?
