  1. There's a lot of good alternatives - free or $40 (here in USA) or less.  Notetaking isn't "rocket science".   I test ported some notebooks over to Notion - seems easy and will work fine.

Under "new Free", you cannot transfer notes between notebooks - that's tough given your config.  I generally have one big notebook w 2500 notes and I can "recycle" old notes (delete info but keep note) to buy me some time.

    Good luck !

Bending Spoons is known for buying struggling companies, augmenting their products with weekly/monthly subscriptions and driving them to death until the last drop of subscription money...writing was on the wall when they acquired Evernote. There are many alternatives on the market, I guess is time to look around.

You may be right, see below.

My strategy: I went through my notebooks - cleaned up / consolidated many notes.  Instead of deleting the now empty notes - I'm "recycling" them - just put EMPTY in the note.

Now I have a pile of empty notecards I can use for new information.

This buys me time while a evaluate alternatives - likely Notion - like it so far.

  3. Free plan used to have:

    • 2 simultaneous devices (and browser was a device), and
    • You could make 3 devices switches per month (I think it was 3)

This does not change with the new Free 50 Note Cap plan, right ?

I'm Free.  Use phone and web as devices.   I need to switch from phone to PC temporarily to export notes for a couple databases (to transfer to another program)

I've done this in the past and then switched back to phone and web as devices.  This is still possible forward ? Thanks !

My lunch costs me EUR 8 a day. That lunch serves me for about half a day...

Evernote serves me several hours a day for at least 25 days a month...And it costs me about the same as that lunch.

By the way, I've been paying for two accounts for years... One for work and one for personal use. Because it suits me better...

I still don't understand how people can't grasp the fact that if you have something for free, you have basically no right to complain about any unilateral changes from Evernote or any other service.

And if you've had something for free for years and it suited you...and now you don't like the price, it's easy.... I guess it's not worth it to you and why make such a big deal out of it?

Spare us please your "lunch analogy" and righteousness........

To go from $0 to $140/year for notetaking for a "non power user" is absurd.

Microsoft 365 Family is $99/year for 6 people.

Bending Spoons obviously can do what they want.

I believe it will be a big marketing blunder for not having a "Lite" plan for $40/year (which  is all it is worth to me).

  5. Latest web version is painfully slow.  I don't understand why search is in different spot vs Windows program.

The overall design has too much "open space" - which EN seems to think is "clean" - I think it is useless and wasteful.

You've "dumbed it down" to "Google Keep level" - you are going the "wrong way" to differentiate your product.

The most recent web client version is fairly recent, hence the "New".  We consider it an incomplete beta version.

I downgraded to the previous version; it's less horrible.

So there's "beta", "current version" and "classic version".  I've been on classic last couple years, occasionally go to "current" (which I called new) - and get frustrated by the step backward.

So "beta" and "current" are both step backwards to "classic" from what I've seen. Thanks.
