  1. Well, @PinkElephant, you're quite notorious over on the EN Reddit threads. I'm not the first you've sent away. I'm thinking maybe you're really a subversive trying to bring down EN? Either way, good riddance.
  2. Well @PinkElephant, your responses and general attitude provided the final push for me, and I'm jumping to Obsidian, which is awesome! Thanks! and Goodbye Evernote!
  3. Well, @PinkElephant, once you start discounting other's use cases and legit concerns about performance, your posts become unhelpful, and show that either you're an employee (in which case disrespecting paying customers), or a fanboy, defending against all comers. Either way I guess this thread is over.
  4. Nope, tried tasks. Didn't work for me. Too complex, reminded me of Asana, which is also overly complicated for what I need. Sorry. It's simple @PinkElephant, make tags sortable and get performance usable and it's back in the game. Otherwise no dice.
  5. I use tags heavily, and have a to-do priority system based on them. For example, active to-dos are tagged: 1- Now, 2-Next, 3-In Progress, 4-Later, 5-Waiting on others I have shortcut saved searches that bring up each list based on those tags. I also have a rule in the saved search for 1-Now that includes any notes that don't have any tags, so I can quickly dump new stuff in there and it shows up on that list to be categorized further. This rule has always worked in Windows Legacy, but there was a long standing bug in the new Android version (non-legacy) where this search didn't work. That has been fixed as of my latest testing I started last week. For more than a year I didn't update my Android app because it would break that search. Within each main 1-5 grouping, I have secondary tags like @Email, @Call, @Errand, etc. That way if I have time for phone calls, I can quickly sort the group and see all the things I need to follow-up with a phone call. Same with @Errands. If I am leaving the building, I can quickly see what I can do when I'm out. Without the tag sorting, I can't quickly sort by those "method" @-tags. I could create additional shortcuts for each combination of Priority and Method tag, but my shortcut list is already long, and I already have to scroll on my Android widget to find them.
  6. That's great if the app is usable, which for me right now it is not. Maybe that will change. If it doesn't, my subscription will end in favor of something else.
  7. @Boot17 I have a Lenovo P51 with 64GB of RAM and 2 SSD drives. The thing can run Photoshop, Lightroom, and a Linux VM without breaking a sweat. I don't think my machine is the issue. My plan B at this point, unless V10 improves, is a different notes platform, unfortunately. I look about every 6 months, and there are several with would be a pain to move to, but not as painful as v10 is right now.
  8. I understand v10 is the supposed future, but it is slow to the point of unusable for me, and the lack of sort by tag is a showstopper for me. I open Legacy after using v10, and it screams in comparison. I'll keep using the legacy version as long as it exists I guess. Thanks for the responses.
  9. Thanks for your help. Neither of these worked. I also don't see where you can edit a saved search to see what might be giving the app fits. You can only edit the title. This new version is really lacking IMO. I hope the legacy one stays around
  10. Thanks I'll give that a try. But first, how do I back it up? Just copy the database folder? Edit: I don't see where the repair option even is.
  11. Interesting. Well the searches work fine on the legacy app and the Android current version. The new Windows version has different rules? I guess I wouldn't be surprised as the Android version had similar issues until recently. I avoided upgrading until they were fixed.
  12. Sticking with the Legacy app unless folks have answers to these things: 1) Several saved searched/shortcuts are missing notes that exist in the Legacy app 2) Warnings at the top of the list after clicking a shortcut say "Invalid Notebook" and "Invalid Tag" (attached) 3) Can't seem to sort by tag I got this far and bailed. I don't have time to sort through a bunch of bugs if the Legacy app works just fine. I'm just worried Evernote will ditch that at some point. Does the new version work well for most people?
  13. @agsteele Regardless of whether a ticket is warranted, it is good to see that others here are having the same issue. That is still helpful.
  14. Already did, and I've run out of patience frankly. EN tech support has always been pretty useless when I've tried interacting. I'm done for now.
  15. You misunderstood. *The* issue is the android version. The others work OK for me as well. The Android version was re-written, and imo it is a mess.
  16. Are you using it in a saved search shortcut? See the two attached screenshots. One is V10 on Android, the other is in Windows. The Windows use of the shortcut finds 4 notes as it should. The Android use of the same shortcut finds 7000+ notes. It appears the "any: -tag:*" doesn't get interpreted and gets cut out of the filters. But the search results also contain other notebooks which makes no sense at all.
  17. This: notebook:"Action Pending" any: tag:1-Now -tag:* It fails on the -tag:* when part of a shortcut This search is supposed to find all notes in the Action Pending notebook with either the "1-Now" tag or no tags at all. Instead it pulls in a random mess. The search in v8 finds the handful of notes it should, v10 finds thousands. I've had several rounds with tech support on this and they say they have no current plans to fix it.
  18. I found that saved search shortcuts from v8 were carried forward to v10 in Android, but parts of the search syntax no longer work, so the shortcuts don't actually work. V10 is a mess. Downgraded back to v8 for now.
  19. I am also attempting a conversion back to OneNote. I used this in the early 2000s but moved to Evernote because of its great features back then. It appears OneNote may have caught up, and these buggy Evernote releases and poor support are becoming problematic. I'll post here how it goes.
  20. After some more interaction with support, it appears that saved searches are broken with this syntax. The syntax works if you type it in manually in the search bar. The saved search shortcut is still in the menu, and is broken, but now they consider this a "future feature" that I can advocate for in the feedback. What?! You broke basic functionality that I've used for years, and now it's a "future enhancement"? Anyone know how to revert back to the previous version?
  21. In Windows currently, and in Android versions prior to 10.5, the following saved search would find all notes in "My Notebook" that either had the tag "Now" or no tags at all. If a note had a tag "Later", for example, and no tag "Now", it wouldn't appear: notebook:"My Notebook" any: tag:Now -tag:* In Android 10.5, this no longer works. It is pulling in notes from other notebooks, different tags, etc. In Windows it finds the correct handful of notes. In Android it finds thousands. I've gone around and around with support on this, but they are not understanding the issue. Every interaction with them is like starting from scratch. Coming here to see if the good folks here can help. Thanks.
  22. Great. So apparently whenever I add a new note, for it to show up I need to reinstall. Great app.
  23. 2 questions: 1) How do I rebuild the search index on Android? That might fix #2 2) Search consistently fails to find notes or exclude changed notes that no longer meet a saved search criteria. Do I need to wait a period of time before new/changed notes end up on searches correctly?
