  1. Thanks @gazumped, I have not recieved any emails from Evernote "confirming the account was due,  unpaid,  and eventually downgraded".... , but I do not understand and find out how to upgrade my creditcard. I did search on Google, but the result was not accurate. And why did not Evernote support reply? Very strange.

My account level is the following:

Why have they not charged me "November 5th 2023"? ⤴️ And where to update my credit card info? I could not find it.  It is the same card number but the expiry date and 3 digit code has changed lately. I also wrote in 2023 to Evernote support about this but they have still not replied.

The only reply I recieved pr. 21 of November 2023 was this:
"We are currently restructuring the Evernote Customer Support department to ensure we can deliver a better service to you and all our customers. Some delay in response time is expected. We apologize for the inconvenience." .......

  3. Well. Yes I have been frustrated. Furstration seldom leads to constructive results or feedback. So I will try to let go of those feelings and look for solutions. I appreciate your answer @PinkElephant! Is it possible to run Evernote from two macs one with the updated version and the other with the Classic version for a while? Could I try to fix my database on the mac with the updated version of Evernote? Would that potentiall be a problem for the Mac running Evernote Classic if the database was fixed?

  4. " lose all access to your existing  notes."

It is logical that they  (the notes)will still be available via web or the newer versions of Evernote.
I did delete some of my frustrated comments here..... It was not constructive.... 😅!

  5. When I click "Share" from Evernote (Desktop App) it does not create a link which works more than once. I have to go online via the Evernote Web version (which is slow) in order to create a shareable link. Is this a bug? It used to work before. Maybe 6 months ago this started to be a problem.

And yes. I know about the new version of Evernote Desktop (which I tried but discarded), which for me felt too slow in comparision to Evernote Classic.

  6. Ok, so I have a questions for you guys which has the original 7.14 (not legacy) still installed.

How much disk space does it take up?

I did the restore of the Old working 7.1.4 from Time Machine and compared it to the zip file from Evernote and it puzzles me that it is not the same size.

I am referring to the folder in the application folder "Evernote".

I see now that the folder "Frameworks" contains some more data on the zip folder from Evernote so that was logical now.

And my restored Evernote Application folder contains the folder "_MASReceipt" which of course the Evernote folder from the Zip does not.

Do you have any local notebooks - this are notebooks that only exist on your drive, not synced to the server ?

    = No, I do not

If you have no local notebooks, make sure your EN legacy is fully synced with the server. Click on the sync button once again, to assure this. Once everything is on the server, you can continue. The new database will entirely be build from the server copy of your notes.

Ok, I guess Evernote also keeps a backup for their clients that also can be restored if a user by accident does something locally that erases the local files? Even if the user syncs all that erasing of notes? They must also keep a kind of restore backup system?

As long as the everything I need is online via the Evernote Web in order, then everything is good to go rigth?

  8. I did update to the latest version of Evernote recently and I regret it deeply for several personal reasons.

1.)I wonder if I might just use Time Machine backup on my Mac to go back in time and reinstall via "restore" the old Evernote folder which was in the Application folder?

Or did the installation of the latest version of Evernote change some settings files, so other files and folders also might need to be restored by Time Machine?

2.) Can I safely just drag and drop  the latest version of Evernote from the Application folder and delete it instantly?

3.) Is the Classic version of Evernote called something else than "Evernote"? I have not tried to install that yet, as I have some macroes relating to the program "Evernote" which I am not sure how to change multiple macroes in one go....... And a grey icon...... Not fun. I love the green icon 💚!

The green icon version will always try to update, and this means installing v10. Only the grey one has the update routine disabled.

Well my latest (old version) with the green icon I was happy with, prior to installing the newest update never tried to update to the latest version by itself. I saw the update on App Store and in a weak moment I did install that latest version.

So in the grey icon version the app is also called another name? "Evernote Classic"... I am using Keyboard Maestro with designated macroes for "Evernote".  After installing the new version most of the shortcuts / macros did not work anymore.

I don't think so. If I were you, I'd first download the legacy app (https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052560314-Install-an-older-version-of-Evernote) and let all your content sync down to it.

Another thing I wrote above in a reply to Pinkelelephant regarding "If I did only revert from Time Machine the Evernote Application folder, not the data and settings folder perhaps???" ? (the total context directly above), do you have any opionions on that?

  11. 1 hour ago, PinkElephant said:

And no, reinstalling from Time Machine is a bad idea - it is an application, not some files with data.

Thank you I do alwas appreciate your feedback.

Actually I did reinstall all (total recovery) from Time Machine just 2 months ago after my hard disk "died". So that worked perfect it seemed.

Not sure if I would like the grey icon though (have not tried to install the 7.1.4 yet),  I prefer the green as it was so I shall cometmplate what to do now.

The only downside is that my notes for the past weeks would be gone or is there a way of overcoming that perhaps?

If I did only revert from Time Machine the Evernote Application folder, not the data and settings folder perhaps???

  12.

Is this the "Lecacy" version? (7.14)?

I have not updated Evernote for probably 2 or 3 years, not sure when it was the last time, but after updating today, lots of my favourite functions where gone like: Tabs + Jump etcetera....

0.) I am not certain which versjon Evernote I had installed from before to be honest. Could it be somewhere between version 7.14 and 10? Would there be versions between 7.14 and 10 avaiable for installing?

1.) Did the update today to the current Evernote version re-format all notes to a new standard? Or will the orginal formatting be the same when I downgrade / revert back?

2.) I have a Time Machine backup. But that is from one week back. Is that the best way of returning to the previous state? Yes I am aware that notes from the past week then probably would be lost.....

3.) Is there a kind of "Evernote Install log" on my Mac, locally (a file) or isthere or another way to see which version I have been using prior to this undesired update?

The software is deprecated, use at your own risk. Support will just tell to upgrade to v10.

Do you mean that my upgrade to 10.49.4-mac-mas-public (459555) is a deprecated version of Evernote? So V10 has the features I am looking for?

And how to now which was my previous version of Evernote, prior to this update..... I am not sure.

  14. I seldom do update because sometimes important features disappear like for me the Quick Switcher (CMD+ J) function. I see that was also an issue in 2020 and that many reported this function as essential for them in this posting.

So I guess the only way is to uninstall the update and revert to the latest old Evernote version which I have not been updating for years???

    How to do that please.

And the TAB function, CMD T or the ability to open severalt notes in tabs?

The new version of Evernote also seems slower ....

    (10.49.4-mac-mas-public (459555)
    Editor: v161.2.19948
    Service: v1.61.2

And how to now which was my previous version of Evernote, prior to this update..... I am not sure.
