  1. Evernote are terrible communicators. Instead of saying "you will be able to use Version 7 for the immediate short term", they should say: "until Version 10 is truly ironed out, in the opinion of our users". They are leaving paying users with a feeling of insecurity about their data -- which is the opposite of what Evernote was set up to do.

  2. The body of commentary against new the Evernote for Mac and IOS (never mind Windows and Android) has to be taken seriously.

Are you doing that? It is not OK to respond to this or that technical fix as if everything else is fine or to treat paying users as if they don't matter.

You need to reclaim 7.14. That means acknowledging it as an equal alternative to 10 for those users who depend on it.

Re-take ownership. Don't bury it in a discussion group as a link for a few people to follow so that they can run it in parallel with 10. You need to spell out, to your paying customers:

"We are undertaking a major revision of Evernote in order to make innovation easier and faster and to create greater compatibility across the platforms served by the world's greatest information and workflow mangement app. We recognise that, for a period, some users will depend on features and workflows only available in previous versions.

"Therefore, for a minimum of 3 years, Evernote Classic 7.14 and New Evernote 10.x will be available in parallel."

There will be nothing ignominious in doing that.

This is a major transition: it is absurd to rush it as you appear to be doing. Did some people financing you tell you: we need to get this done before the end of 2020? If they did, they are in danger of losing their money.

  3. Evernote need to launch an Evernote Classic (the old version) and Evernote Whatever (the disastrous new version) and wait a few years for users to make the switch. That's what other companies do. Isn't it strange that Apple can launch a new OS and basically everybody loves it (yes, I know there are Big Sur downloading issues) and also knows what the point of all the changes was. Does Evernote think that its challenges are more complicated?

  4. This has probably been said before, but a) When I try to copy a pdf from Acrobat into an Evernote notebook, I now have to name it (it doesn't recognise the name of the file), and b) it doesn't appear, or doesn't synch. This is PATHETIC at this point. I don't think anyone working at Evernote actually uses it or they could not possibly have released an update quite as defective as this.
