I'm sorry to hear that you have this issue. It will be no comfort to know that this isn't my experience.

Is try uninstalling the app then reinstall to see if it resolves the issue. Otherwise, you'll need to raise a support ticket from the settings menu in the app.

    It's a weird one, isn't it?

I just noticed that the one Android device I have that's still using the legacy version is also sometimes creating notes with a sharable link.

  2. Starting yesterday, many, but not all, notes I create with Evernote's Android app are created with a sharable link.

This is happening on several different android devices. I don't want to create notes that automatically have "Anyone with the link can view."

I am using the most recent version of Evernote available on the Google Play store.

Does anyone know how to stop Evernote from automatically creating a sharable link?

    Thanks.

At the moment I am using a Nimbus account side by side to EN10 to hold the most important information in parallel on Android. So in any case of a subsequent fail of EN10 when on the go, I can access the needed stuff there. But this needs pretty much manual uploading the ENEX files regularly....ufff

For my most important everyday carry mobile phone I (painfully) decided to roll back to EN 8.13.3 for good - support had to grant access to my IP for the login to allow - and now I have at least one Android with an EN 8.13.3 running fast like hell again, background synchronized offline notebooks, pretty instant note display and capture...it is all there again. Love it so much! 🙂

The downside is, that the new features like tasks or home are dismissed that way...but for me that pays off nevertheless.

You can set up IFTTT to create a new note in Nimbus every time you add a note in Evernote. It's not perfect, but that can be helpful.

    Thanks, I think.  😉

I've kept my account live in Basic mode.  Should EN ever fix the speed issues I might be back. The UI productivity problems (so many clicks) can be hammered with AutoHotKey.  Can't fix the loss of local notebooks though.    🤷‍♂️

The latest version of Evernote 10 is faster. It's still not as fast as Evernote legacy, but it's definitely zippier.

Exactly, and to be more specific, these differences should be abstracted by the electron platform, that's their only reason of existence.

To be honest, I'm also frustrated by the slow android app: just taking a picture ( in photo mode) takes 5 seconds, then another 8 seconds to put it in the note. It takes 13 seconds just to take a single photo! My native android  takes and saves a hundred pictures per seconds!

So V10  is more than a 1000 times slower than my native camera app for doing nothing  (just in photo mode, no processing required).  This breaks my major use case on my android phone: taking quick notes on the fly.

I have Classic Evernote running on two phones, and New Evernote running on two other Android devices. The speed difference is maddening.

Right, after several more attempts at installing the old android app and not being able to log in, I cleared everything and re-installed V10.20.

My inbox was populated with a load of notes from 3 days ago.... WTF??

It took a further 12 minutes before it sync'd to my current notes. Where is it getting it's sync info from?

This has happened to me, too, on my Android phone. Notes sync days later.

  7. When the new Evernote first came out I tried it. I hated both the new Windows and Android versions for all the same reasons many others did, including the lack of features that the legacy version has.

Four weeks ago I decided to try the new Evernote for Windows and Android again, and I'm sorry, but I've gone back to the legacy version of both. The new Evernote for Android is painfully slow -- it often takes twenty seconds for a notebook to open, followed by another four or five seconds for a note to open. Even for notebooks that are available offline. The new Evernote for Android doesn't always sync and sometimes notes don't save. The new Evernote for Windows is still much slower than the legacy version.

I've gone back to the legacy Windows and Android Evernotes.

Just curious...anyone had any bad experience with the apkmirror download? I've been stoically waiting for Evernote to sort out things, but in vain... things are not getting better (at all).

Thus for now the only way seems to be to try the downgrade. Thanks for any comment.

P.s.: At least while Notion has no offline option and Joplin has no widgets and some reduced functionality.

I've used apkmirror to download Evernote legacy for Android several times without any problems.

Yep, same here. Legacy until such time they might choose to completely abandon (as in it doesn't sync) then I will move on as well. This assumes, of course, the current product doesn't improve so its performance is at least equal to Legacy.

Me, too. I'm still using the Legacy version (and on Android.) I'll hold on for awhile longer, and then either jump ship to a different service, or use the new Evernote if it finally matches the old Evernote in features and usability.

If you go to the Play Store updates page for Evernote and click the three-dots menu on that page,  you should be able to uncheck "check for updates" which may help...  That's all Android / Google stuff - Evernote have no direct influence there,  though I have had a couple of green pop-ups from Evernote when using the app,  'reminding' me that updates are available.  Unless that becomes unreasonably persistent you just have to dismiss those... there are no settings to control the frequency - you're at the mercy of the Marketing Department <dramatic music>

I have check for updates turned off for Evernote on all my Android devices. Here's what appears on my Android device.

@Richard M. Ruby Several people, including myself, are using the "Legacy version" in parallel to the new version for missing feature.  You could do the same or completely switch to the legacy version until you get the proper feedback that the missing parts that are so important for you are present in the new version.  Unfortunately, this situation will have the bad consequence that you lost your original setup ...

As for the real subject of your email, I think several users are sharing your feeling.  I wished the installation of Evernote 10 would have been done directly in parallel to the previous version only.  This way I wouldn't have lost my original setup and could have experienced the new version in parallel with the several year version I had customized the way I want.

Is it safe to run both the legacy and new versions of Evernote at the same time on the same Windows computer?

For almost 10 years I have been an EN user and for the most part have always been pleased with features as they were added. Now, with 10.6, I'm thinking of searching the alternatives. And, frankly, that's not something I've even been remotely interested in spending time on because I have been so happy with EN.

Now the Offline Notebook was deleted, I only just now discovered all my notes sitting in my Upload Folder because that feature is no longer available either. It is now cumbersome and requires extra clicks to move notes between folders and the icing on the cake is that the app is SLOW!! Slow to load, slow to sort, slow to move files, just freaking SLOW. I see that others are missing useful features they had also come to depend on as well. I just can't imagine what the developers were thinking on this one. It is just the sort of move that breaks the trust between long-time, loyal customers and the company.

Of all the productivity tools I have used over the decades, this is the biggest step BACKWARDS I have ever seen a company make. I see some mention in this thread about EN "reintroducing" some features in the future. That would be nice, but in the meantime I guess I'll do what I did 10 years ago and look for an app I can depend on. What a very, very big disappointment.

For me, Evernote has always been my most important app. It's where my ideas go. My important notes. Book outlines. Photos of restaurants I want to remember. Information I need to give my accountant. My kids' medical records.

    I depended on Evernote. Now I can't.

I hope Evernote returns to its former self.

I'm not absolutely sure what you mean by 'Quick add note notification' but version 10.4 does include a widget where you can add a shortcut/button to the phone screen to do one of several things including create a blank note, make a search, create a date setting a reminder in the process and other options.

Quick add from the notification bar lets you pull down from the top of your phone to take a quick note. It's described this way in the previous version's app settings: "When you want to capture a thought without launching the app, just swipe down from the top of your screen."

  14. In the past day, I've noticed several problems with Evernote 10 for Android. Some are bugs (it seems); some user issues.

Sharing from one Android app to Evernote often fails.

When sharing is successful, you have to click save. In the previous Android version, the shared item (a newspaper article or webpage, for example) would automatically save. Now there's an extra step to save. (This seems to be to let you choose the notebook, but it's an exta step.)

The blue edit button blocks a line of a note's text.

In my list of offline notebooks, my default notebook is list six times. (This happens on all three of my phones that are running Evernote 10.)

  15. A suggestion in another thread in this forum solved most of the major problems. I'll repeat that tech tip here so that anyone who's looking can find it.

(Evernote 10 for Android still doesn't have the ability to create a note from the notification bar.)

    ---
Solution to not saving notes and default notebook issues:

Peter, with Evernote support I've find a workaround:

    - from web version change temporary default notebook to another

    - close and reopen evernote Android, now you can save with success

    - from web version change default notebook to preferred

    - evernote Android still work normally to original default notebook

If you delete data of app, you have to repeat steps above.

The little problem is that you see default notebook more than one under notebooks, is only grafical issue, app works normally.

I hope that will be fix soon, I'm waiting answer from support.

    Ciao
