FYI I gave up waiting for this, canceled my subscription and moved everything to Bear App. Their next version will have local encryption and so far has been a better experience getting to use markdown. Evernote continues to disappoint and I was a big fanboy for a while.

having the same issue the past few months... on version 7.8. Evernote is really unusable with the crappy text rendering. Looks like they've given up on this issue and their customers.
