Well at least this explains why I can't save my modified WORD files as well - but running the app in a sandbox shouldn't prevent data to be saved back again. I bought my Android tablet for using EVERNOTE on it. Because the Web Version won't work under Android 12 either, there is no option to use EVERNOTE on a tablet as expected. Will need to find another option....
