Sharing extension does not always work in Safari

Recommended Posts

I'm having a problem with sharing and Evernote.  I've discovered that if I am in Safari and I try to share a page into Evernote it will generally just show a modal window with a spinner that never goes away.  So far, I only see this problem with Safari but it happens with almost every page I have tried, but not all -- only the most basic of pages seems to work.  For instance, I can try to share the topic page from this forum into Evernote (https://discussion.evernote.com/forum/219-mac-help/) and it simply won't work.  I discovered by accident that a basic HTML page (like this: http://help.websiteos.com/websiteos/example_of_a_simple_html_page.htm) works fine.  I have observed identical behavior on two macs.

As a side-note, i have the Evernote Web Clipper plugin for Safari and that's not working either.  I click on it and nothing happens.

Hi.  Safari Web Clipper users eem to have problems clipping certain sites.

One reason in these cases can be caused by how Safari have chosen to enforce Content Security Policy (CSP) headers.  More details here - https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/81222-web-clipper-in-yosemite-wont-respond/#entry344217

If there's a problem it's always good to know what Safari, OS and Web Clipper version you're running

Problems are most likely caused by a setting or utility such as another extension you have in your Safari. If you reset Safari on restart this can happen or f.a.e extensions such as CCleaner or other extensions that tamper with cache cookies or local storage. Check what you have an consider adding an exception for Evernote.

If that doesn't help try un-installing or re-installing the Safari Web Clipper.

Also:  make sure that you have the setting 'Stop plug-ins to save power' *unchecked* in Safari Preferences > Advanced.
Evernote have noticed that this can sometimes interfere with the Safari clipper.

OSX 10.11.1 Safari is 9.0.1

The stop plug-ins to save power setting is unchecked.

The only extensions I have in safari are adblock, evernote and 1password.

I'll check into the CSP thing.

Mainly, this seems to be related to the complexity of the site though.  Simple pages are fine, it's more complex pages where I tend to see issues.
