Have part of Evernote but not all of it.

I have Evernote installed enough that I can use it but it's not complete. When I try to install it I get this message:

 

COULD NOT CONNECT TO SERVER. YOU NEED TO BE ONLINE TO REGISTER OR PERFORM AN INITIAL SYNC. PLEASE CHECK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION.

 

I don't understand this because I am online because I have no problem getting into my hotmail. My son tried to help by adjusting the firewall but nothing worked.

Can someone help?

What versions of OS and Evernote are you running?
