(Archived) New Computer, Large Database: Best Way to Get DB Copied

If one has a database > 2 GB, what is the best way to add another computer? If I export the DB and import on the new machine, will it sync correctly and not try to duplicate notes on the EN server? Is it easier to just install EN on the new machine and sync?

Currently using: EN 3.1 for windows.

New machine: Intend to buy iMac to supplement (not replace) the Windows machine. Would like to have all notes on both.

Since you're crossing platforms, I'd suggest installing EN onto the new computer & then sync. This won't get any local notebooks you have but you could maybe export/import those notes, I think.

Yes, you only want to use the "Export" function to copy Local-only notebooks. If you Export a synchronized notebook, and then import it into another client, it will create duplicate notes, and will still synchronize all of your data down from the servers.
