That may give you a clue as to what's happening (may give you a headache, too). Second stop: Open a support ticket. If you're a free user, then you may not get a quick response time (see the special note there), but as you're having account access problems, they should be willing to help you. Link to comment

Vicky General Troubleshooting TipsRestart your PC/Mac Confirm your Internet access using SpeedTest.net Delete the Evernote app, and redownload and reinstall.You can try Evernote after each of the above steps. Thank you indeed for your advice! No problem. You are quite welcome. Now you know -- restarting/rebooting is always the first thing to try when things don't work right.
