I've tested it with it checked and without it checked and I have two evernote accounts for testing. I cannot see any difference between ticking this option? Link to comment

Or do you click on a link and look at a web page? This check is meant to provide extra security in that only the person with the email to which the invite was sent can see the data after they have logged into their Evernote client. If left unchecked it looks like it shows the data to whoever clicks the link from the invitation email. Link to comment
