(Archived) size of photograph sent to evernote

If I take a photo using my iphone's native camera app, and then email it to evernote, it is reduced in size to about 100k, sent in, and results in a perfectly usable, text recognised evernote note.

If I take a photo in the evernote iphone app and upload it, it stays at around 400k with no obvious advantage in text recognition etc. I'm not even close to approaching my upload limit - but I can imagine it wouldn't be impossible if I start taking more photos.

Is there any way to compress the photos before uploading them?

Currently, we accept whatever resolution we receive. You could check the configuration of your camera or camera app to see whether you can get it to take pictures at a lower resolution.
