(Archived) Evernote v 3.0.6 Local Note Storage Location on OSx 10.7.3

Idea

I would like to verify that the local storage location for Evernote v 3.0.6 on OSx v 10.7.3 is the following "/User/<User Name>/Library/Application Support/Evernote/Data"? Second based on some other forum post it would appear that the location for where Evernote data/notes are stored on Windows systems can be controlled in using the Tool --> Options --> General. Maybe I am just a bit OCD or a control freak but if you can control the location of the local note store on Windows why should I not be able to do the same on OSx (a far superior OS).

Thank you in advance for any information or feedback.

hi. welcome to the forums!

i don't know where it is (hopefully someone will come along and confirm it for you). i don't know if osx is a superior os (windows 7 is actually quite nice). i think there are limitations of some sort in osx that prevent two or more databases and relocation. google the forums and i think you'll find the explanation somewhere.

Apparently it IS possible, but not recommended, to change the Evernote DB location on a Mac.

Here's a quote from the Evernote Director of Support in another thread that asked the same question.

Moving location of local EN db

In this case, you're asking for something I like to call "an unsupported installation." The client doesn't have this available, and it can really cause some issues if you do it - but should you choose to, here's instructions how:

If you do happen to go this route, and you need to contact support in the future, please mention immediately that you're running an unsupported installation, and exactly what you've done - up front. Certain issues you may encounter will not be able to be handled by anyone less than a specialist, so it's good for us to know what we're dealing with from the beginning.

I'm not sure why GM brought up the issue about multiple Evernote DBs, but if you want to have multiple Evernote accounts on the same Mac, you will need to log in as a different Mac user. Each Mac User login can have only one Evernote account installed.

thanks jm for finding that post. in answer to your question, i brought up the issue of multiple databases within the context of database limitations in osx. these seem to be the two major issues someone thinking about fiddling around with the database ought to know.
