Evernote logged-out today and is stuck at sign-in screen. Tried restarting, uninstalling, reinstalling  (both on app-store and download from EN site) nothing worked. Please help.

I have the same problem on a brand new Windows 11 Pro system.

Subscription type: EV Personal all paid and up to date ;-)

1.) Fresh install of latest version first from Ninite then directly from Evernote website.

2.) Per Evernote support website: perform a complete uninstall with a 3rd party uninstaller(did this with Revo portable)

3.) Rebooted and re-installed and still stuck.

4.) The web authentication process succeeds but the app never successfully logs in.

5.) My other computers work fine as well as my Android phone, 2022 iPad Mini, and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

6.) My computer: Windows 11 Pro, MSI AMD B650 Mobo, 32GB Corsair DDR5-5600, Crucial 500GB M.2 Gen 4 SSD, AMD Radeon 5700XT GPU

7.) Any help would be appreciated !

PS...My default Browser is "Brave" if that helps.

UPDATE: I rebooted and enabled profile 1 which increased the RAM from 4800 to 5600 and now Evernote works as it should !

I hope this helps someone :-)

Having the same problem. I was logging into the web version, it made me change my password (said "too many common words" or some such) and after doing that I could no longer log into the Windows version. It changed since my last update apparently in that it now pushes me to the web to log in and then launches the desktop app but the desktop app is stuck at "Signing in... If the sign in process fails in your browser you may need to close this window and try again". Clearly since I am able to post here, the login works. I can also use the iPhone app no problem as well as the web app. I just can't get to the desktop app any longer. Installed latest and same issue.

Using:

  • Brave Version 1.67.116 Chromium: 126.0.6478.71 (Official Build) (64-bit)
  • Win11 Home, 23H2, 22631.3593 with all latest updates
  • Evernote app 10.92.3-win-ddl-public (20240612161827)
    Editor: v178.12.0
    Service: v1.113.6

Tried rebooting, loading latest Evernote desktop, no help, no change.

Update 2024/06/17:

I now also have this problem on another system running Win11Pro. As with the Win11 Home, I am required to log into the web system (did not need to do that before) and it hangs on the signing in screen of the desktop application. The iPhone version still runs fine. This too is with the latest installed. I DON'T want to use the web app on my PCs. What is going ON with this?!? It is not the connectivity (was getting this message before upgrading:  "You need to be online to register or perform an initial sync. Please check your internet connection") as the web version connects/works fine, just not the new desktop application WHICH Evernote forced me to install AFTER forcing me to change my password. Whether or NOT my old password "had too many common words" in it is NOT a reason to force me to change my password, which directly led to this current issue that I can find zero solutions for. Again, all was working just fine before the password change.

Had this same issue when I accidentally deleted my mac as a device.

What finally worked was to make safari the default browser (though would work with chrome if that is up to date for you, I think) and then went through the steps and it worked.

It did not work with Brave, which was my previous default browser.

For folks with this issue, consider trying by making an evernote supported browser you default (you can change back after):

  • Chrome version 108 or newer
  • Firefox version 111 or newer
  • Edge version 108 or newer
  • Opera version 94 or newer
  • Safari version 16.4 or newer

Lately there were problems reported with using Brave.

It seems a Brave update caused the issue, and another update solved it. If you encounter issues with Brave, make sure you run the latest version. If the problems remain, contact Brave support.

OK, just "adjusted" my Win11 Home system to use Edge as the default browser, reinstalled latest Win Evernotes and logged in. This worked. So it does appear to be a Brave thing. I checked and the Brave version installed is the latest. I will try again when the next Brave update happens to see if this is resolved for Brave. Thanks for the suggestions/hints all!

Hi everyone,
I've been having the exact same issue since last Thursday. Can only access my evernotes from my iPhone. Desktop app (v 10.97.3-win-ddl-public Editor: v178.17.7 Service: v2.1.2) stuck at loading with the four dancing colored icons, even after desinstalling reinstalling evernote (downloaded from their website directly, as seen is this forum); same on Chrome, Edge and Firefox with the web version... I've been an evernote user for years and use it extensively...
Help!

Here is my system's spec:
Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz   1.99 GHz

System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processorEdition    Windows 10 Home
Version    22H2
Installed on    ‎28/‎12/‎2020
OS build    19045.4651

Microsoft Edge Version 126.0.2592.113
Chrome Version 126.0.6478.182 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Firefox v128.0

The very latest Brave update (loaded within the last week) seems to have resolved this issue for me (was already as current as possible but was still an issue). My work-around was to change my default browser to Edge, log into Everynote and then change it back to Brave.

I am using Win11 Home 23H2, build 2261.3593.

Related, sorry [not sorry] but I am NOT happy with this newer Evernotes update that requires me to authenticate via web browser instead of directly within the desktop application.

@Aude DL When you uninstalled did you use Revo Uninstaller to do a complete uninstall?  If you did not, you may not have done a complete install.  If that is the case, I would uninstall again, this time using Revo Uninstaller to completely clean your system.  Then reinstall.

I am probably late with my response, but it is because pop up windows are blocked in your default browser. I ran into the same issue (Firefox being my default browser on Win11). I tried everything, reinstalling, switching default browsers and nothing helped.  Allowing pop up windows for evernote.com solved the problem.

@ViktorN thanks for your help, I have a feeling this is something like that but can't find how to "allow pop up windows for evernote.com", could you elaborate pls?

(I also user Firefox on Windows 11)

Besides I'm now having the exact same issue (Evernote not opening, stuck on the dancing icons' page!) on my iPhone - on which I have Firefox sync'ed wth my PC.... It's seems all related!

Thanks in advance for your help

Update on this: Evernote suddenly started working on my (brand new) iphone (15), I have no idea of what happened for the issue to disappear...

And then, since yesterday, all of a sudden, after a month of my Evernote app working fine, I'm stuck again at the colourful dancing icons page for ever...  it says "we're downloading your content" but it's been like that for 3 days now and I have NO ACCESS to my notes on my phone which is awfully disabling. Pls help!! Anyone found a way to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Aude

First make sure you are on the latest release (should be 10.104.0).

If this doesn’t work, try on another network, like mobile or a public WiFi. If it works there, the issue is with your regular network. Something like a firewall, a DNS-Filter or similar.

If it doesn’t work independent of the network, you can only close the app and uninstall. Dump all data when asked.

Now perform a FORCED restart. Reinstall, open, log in.

After September 16, there will be no more EN updates for people who are running OS below 10.15. My main Mac is now running on OS Ventura.  What about syncing? Will it still sync with my second Mac which is 10.13.6? Thanks.

The issue is not a Mac on Ventura. This will just continue to run EN.

The issue is a Mac on 10.13. It will not allow to run the desktop client. Maybe the web client will work.

Syncing is never device to device - all syncing works through the cloud server.

What if I need it just use it as a notebook to store the data and tutorials? I have a quite few apps that are still running on OS 10.13, despite they are no longer being supported. For example Adobe, Parallel, and others. Why the EN would not open on my Mac? What if I disconnect the WiFi?
