This reduces the stress for the cloud server, because he doesn't need to deliver a big volume of data in a short time. The web client has no local database to serve as blueprint for the export. You can install the desktop client any time, free of charge. Or use the GitHub Evernote-Backup project. It works even without any installed EN client, and on platforms not supported by any client like a Docker install. Yes, it uses the server as data source, but it is no official EN software. Probably there are so few installs that it doesn't play a role.
