Enhancing User Navigation: A Proposal for Flexible Hyperlink Management in Evernote

Idea

I'd like to suggest a small improvement that I believe could significantly enhance the Evernote user experience, especially for those of us who frequently work with multiple notes and windows.

Issue at Hand:
When working in a new window and clicking an internal hyperlink, the linked note opens in the main app window. This switch can disrupt the workflow, especially if we're in the middle of editing a note or reviewing search results, as it replaces the current content and clears any search progress.

Suggested Improvements:

1. Flexible Opening Options for Hyperlinks: It would be incredibly helpful to have the option to choose where the hyperlinked note opens—whether in the same window, the main app window, or a completely new window. A simple toggle in the settings or an option to right-click and select the desired action could work well.

2. Preserving User Workflow: If a hyperlinked note is to open in the main app window, implementing a feature that would save the current state of work (including search results and the note currently being viewed) would greatly reduce any potential disruption to our workflow.

Why This Matters:
These enhancements would not only improve workflow efficiency but also user satisfaction by providing more control over how we navigate and manage our notes within Evernote.

This is an issue that has been raised by others recently as well. It is possible to Ctrl+click the link and have it open in another new window (but the main window still pops up). I'd love to have right-click and select which option to use, and maybe to have a default set in the Settings for a simple left-click. I've voted for the idea.
