Does background sync work?

I use Evernote for work using multi devices (Mac, iPhone and iPad).

More specific, I write down the phone call conversations in Evernote on my iPad in the phone booth, then go back to my desk and organize the conversations in Evernote on my Mac.

But I think Evernote’s sync doesn’t work when iPad screen is locked right after create the note even if iPad connected to internet and iPad's beckgound refresh option is on.

Is there any solution? I don’t want to turn screen on my iPad while I walk

iOS got quite aggressive on preserving battery level, cutting off apps that try to perform in the background.

This means syncing is axed by the OS shortly after locking up an iOS device. There is AFAIK no way around it - you need to keep the app active and the device unlocked until syncing is done.
